OG OP-1 Audio Output Channel not very loud

New user, new forum member here. I just bought a used original OP-1. It’s V2, and probably just a few years old. Physically, it’s in great shape.

I found a problem however that I suspect is probably hardware, but I thought I’d through it out there in case I’m missing something. I did a search and learned quite a lot, but haven’t been able to resolve the problem through settings. Maybe this is a common issue, although I didn’t find any matches in my search.

Essentially, the left channel from the audio output is putting out about only 20% of the volume that the right channel is. If both volumes are set to equal, it pretty much sounds like the left channel is dead, which is what I thought was going on at first. But turning down the right channel, I could hear the audio from the left channel.

I turned up the Drive and now have the right channel set to around 30. This is making it sound pretty balanced, and can probably live with it like this, for now at least. Of course, I’d prefer not having to need to set it like that though.

As I said, I went through a lot of things and wasn’t able to solve it. The device isn’t set to PO Sync, and I tried a factory reset. (I also upgraded to firmware 246 as it was at 243 when I received it.)

So if anyone has any thoughts or experienced something like this, let me know. As I said, with a work around, I was able to balance the two channels, but will likely want to get it repaired at some point if it turns out to be a hardware issue. Thanks for your time!

u could try seeing if its the audio jack itself or the connector board
either reflow the solder joints on the jack to see if its that
or cleaning hte jack w/ some electronics cleaner like deoxit
or replace the audio jack entirely
or u could replace the entire connector board
and see if any of those helps?

also just to be thorough, if u haven’t already
check your cables, mixer, headphones etc etc
try different ones if u can
check all your settings in case its something silly like that
just try to eliminate anything as the root

Thanks docshermsticks, yeah will check into the jack if a non-physical solution doesn’t come up. From the outside, the jack is nice and solid and doesn’t wiggle at all. And I agree on checking even obvious things. I tried multiple headphones/ear buds. I’ll put more thought into it before get to the point of opening it up.
