(OG) OP-1 power switch, availability? Part number?

Seems like the power switch on my OP-1 is wearing out. Only turns on intermittently. Have to keep flicking it back and forth.

I pulled the I/O board out and took the the plastic cap off the switch. The switch action feels real “mushy”, no real snap to it.

I have a new I/O board from iFixit, which I assume will solve the problem. But, if everything on the old board, except the switch, is still good, I’d like to try and salvage it rather than just trashing the whole thing.

Anyone know specifically what part is used here. Or something compatible with the same footprint?

seems like it uses MSKT-12D14A switch

That looks like the right part, based on photos.

Know any legit supplier that stocks them?

Google just pulls up a couple of sketchy-looking AliExpress hits, and one Amazon listing.

this is the part number for the power switch
JS102011SAQN

they sell at mouser and prolly digikey

https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/CK/JS102011SAQN?qs=LgMIjt8LuD%252B69bNM9a%2FozQ%3D%3D&srsltid=AfmBOorRdqx5EN-IvZelMkC2UEyUzynUWFtOZkcYwszJZji27S3Gr60n

Ahh, excellent! Thanks :+1:

I had tried looking for “micro slide switches” on Mouser, but didn’t really know the right search criteria to filter it down correctly.

Need to do a Mouser order soon anyway, for some other projects. I will throw one of these switches on the order.

Then it’s just down to my (very limited) SMT soldering skills;)

get some flux if u dont have any
really helps the desoldering process
dont wanna pull any of those pads off

take your time and some deep breaths :stuck_out_tongue:

Worth grabbing some jacks as well - they’re really cheap. I bought a spare switch and jacks a while ago just-in-case !

You mean the switch action feels mushy even without the plastic cap? Just removing the plastic cap did the trick for me, the switch itself works fine, just need a pen or something now to reach it.

here are the part numbers
for the audio & usb jacks

OP-1:

Jack SJ1-3515-SMT (CUI)
USB jack 0678038020 (Molex)

also honestly worth a try
sometimes just spraying a lil deoxit inside the switch
and working it back and forth real good
will bring it back to life for a good long while

Put in the new I/O board and that has solved the immediate issue.

And yes, it was the switch itself (without the plastic cap) that was mushy. The one on the new board had noticeably more snap to it.

Thanks for the IDs on additional parts. I should probably stockpile back-ups, for the cheap, readily available stuff at least.
Maybe there should be a Sticky thread (does this forum have those?) of all positively identified replacement parts/components for the OP?

Pretty sure I have some flux, and some Chip-Quik, somewhere. From when I did this thing: monotron-E – Pulp Logic way back when.
