I try to do something like John did on the OP-1 but with some arbitrary synth track on the OP-XY.
Maybe I can’t see the obvious - what I tried so far is to use the “element” LFO, because it’s the only one which can modify pitch via “amp” / “pitch”. The “random” LFO seems to be unable to modify “amp” / “pitch” (why?!).
How would I do that? Can you help me with the terminology? (because I guess I’m just searching wrong)
Tremolo comes quite close but it’s lacking the randomization. I guess the best would be “random” with the destination options of “element”. (Or having a random source in the “element” LFO)
Good point, I suppose there’s no direct way to do what you’re describing… but there are some convoluted workarounds!
It depends on what qualifies to you as random and what you’re willing to give up for the sake of randomness.
For example, if velocity isn’t too important for the track you could turn off velocity sensitivity and set the Velocity Mod destination to LFO2 with Tremolo selected, then add a bunch of random velocity step components.
Stack that with a random Skip component and it’s going to be fairly unpredictable, especially if the notes were played in at different velocities.
You could also stack some Bend components on there, set the Bend Mod to LFO2, and even record some Pitch Bend on top of it all.
