Hi people, just wanted to share this cheap case mod. I got a UDG Creator Hardcase for NI Kontrol X1, F1 & Z1 at the low price of $37 AUD from my local dj store. Thats pretty cheap in my books.
I trimmed a little off the edge of the foam inserts that came in the case that i guess were supposed to be thrown away?? Its a snug fit! I used a table saw to get a nice clean straight cut and with some scissors was able to clean up the loose strands of material. It took about 10 minutes. Providing you have a table saw!
As you can see fits nice and with a smaller cut out on the lid for the USB cable it will wedge nice and tight wont go anywhere! Clears all the knobs too. Great case IMO
Yeah I use this case too. A really neat gap for a little accessories pouch too.
Ooh. That’s really nice. Me, I just trimmed down the foam inside a gun case I got off Amazon for $6. Works well enough to stave off the desire to put much more money in the carrying case.
I have the larger version of that case, that I use for my multi-track recorder. They’re a good deal, for the money.
Anyone know a US source that stocks those UDG cases? Tried to buy it from 2 different online DJ stores, and one Ebay seller who all claimed to have them, but all “discovered” they were out of stock after I’d placed my order.
Or is there another, not too bulky (want a case I can throw inside my courier bag when biking), readily available (in the US) one that people recommend?
This guy looked promising: http://www.casesbysource.com/product/slim-blow-molded-presentation-case-sb1272/slim-blow-molded-presentation-case-sb1272 but they want $14 to ship an $11 case! ;/
Try eBay for microphone cases. I got a case for OP-1 for about £3!
Ah, hadn’t thought of microphone cases. Good call!
A microphone case and some pick-n-pluck foam and you’ll be laughing
^thats a good idea man. nice!
Looked around on Ebay, which led me to this case:

Not quite that £3 bargain, but the dimensions look good. Got one ordered from Amazon. I’ll report back on how well it does (or doesn’t) fit the OP-1, once I’ve got it in hand next week.
Got the Sennheiser case, and can confirm it’s a good fit for the OP-1. I pulled out the existing (mic-shaped) foam because I had my own stash, but you could probably adapt it to the OP’s shape with a little strategic trimming.
Case seems solid. Not too spendy. Not too bulky (easy to throw in a backpack). I’m calling this one a winner:)

There was a magical moment, upon reading this thread, that I remembered I have a pair of Sennheiser MD421 cases in the basement, neatly wrapped, having misplaced them 10 years ago when I sold my pair of MD421 microphones.
I bought a Tomandwill 33FCC Flute case cover for £15 from Amazon. This takes the OP-1 in it’s original packaging with a bit of room for accessories and a charger. It also has a side pocket suitable for cables.
Plano pistol case, Model 1403. Egg crate foam, very durable, has a place for a padlock and fits perfectly. $9 at any Bass Pro Shop (US).
How do you hook up the Lego cogs?
With the brick shaft accessory from TE.
Do you just turn them by hand?
