Is the only way to fade in/fade out by recording and turning the orange volume knob?

How do you get the OP1 to start recording on tape mode when I start playing the keys? Right now I’m over stretching my hand to hit the play button while simultaneously playing the keys and I know there is a better way but I couldn’t find anything online about it
just hold rec button and start playing some keys
the tape will start automatically and record will latch
In the mixer/drive section (T4 button) you can use blue and green knobs to fade the master buss in or out for all tape tracks and whatever you might be playing on the keys, or if you hold shift and turn blue or green it will move both faders. This is captured to album or of course the 1/8” output jack…
