My OP-1 Field has a dead “left” key, so I cannot shift an octave down now. I’ve removed the keycap, cleaned, used some contact spray, nothing is working. Is there any fix to this? Every other key works great, apart from the occasional double trigger.
Related, is there any US based repair shop for these things?
When I reached out to TE, they just recommended cleaning and pointed me to the OG-1 iFixit page, which didn’t help at all.
darn that stinks. in my experience, sending it to TE direct for repairs has been the only way ive found. im sure there are places out there that can fix but im not aware of any at the moment.

Thanks for the reply. Do you know TE repair costs by any chance? I bought it on deep discount knowing the synth had the issue but hoping it would potentially be a simple fix. Thankfully, because it has other issues (double triggers) that weren’t described, I can return if needed.
no problem. i dont know the cost. mine was free since it was covered by warranty.
the key ought to be a simple fix though. were you able to identify how/why the key does not respond within the keybed itself?
the double triggers you are referring to might be unrelated to the broken key. what are these double triggers like?
I’m not totally sure what the issue is, but the rubber dome (I don’t know if that’s what you call it) is broken and slides around. I cannot get it to trigger even when I just push it down. I suspect the double triggers are a cleaning issue, because the unit is a little dusty when I got it. I think I could fix all that and get it running well, but I don’t want to open it up more than the one broken key if I am going to send it back.
if the rubber dome is broken
makes me think that the lil carbon dot on the backside
might not be making correct contact w the button traces on the pcb?
if u could see how that is supposed to work
u might be able to resolve?
or maybe the carbon on the dome is worn and needs to be replenished?
there is some stuff u can buy that does this
i used it a couple times myself on some other beat machines
snap / share some pics if u feeling inclined

That certainly sounds right, I guess I just don’t know what to do about it. Do I need a whole new dome? Is something missing from inside the dome? Here are some quick pictures. Google hasn’t helped much in figuring out exactly how these things work or where to find replacements.
Hey I replied to you on reddit but il contine here- I had this issue on the og1 and the button mechanism looks to be the same.
Obvz if the unit is still under warranty then the best thing would be to send back to Te.
I had a rubber dome come off partially and I managed to fix by firstly cleaning it with some isopropyl alcohol and a qtip (cotton bud).
After it dried I got some superglue and a cocktail stick (small wooden skewer with a point). Make a pool of super glue on a piece of card away from the op1 and dab the cocktail stick in it to apply to the edge of the rubber dome and then stick it down in place. You should be able to get away with the tiniest amount.
Obviously try this at your own risk and be super careful not to get glue anywhere it shouldn’t be! I only attempted it myself as the replacement keyboards for the og1 didn’t seem to be available.
