OP-1 Field + Loopy Pro question

Hey all! Hope this is the right tread to ask: I wonder if someone uses the OP-1 Field in combination with Loopy Pro and iPhone (maybe this is the same “issue” on an iPad tho).

So i’ve connected my OP1f with USB-C into my iPhone 17 (USB-C). And I can record my OP1f in Loopy Pro, but when I want to hear the loop, i can’t choose a output to the speaker of the iPhone. Is there a way to fix this? (I know that something like the TE TX-6 will fix this, but i am looking for a cheaper but also portable alternative like some sort of dongle/adapter)

Also, I want to use a cabled headphone with this setup, but I’m not sure what I need to be able to plug a headphone (3.5mm jack) and get the output of Loopy Pro.

I used a OP-1 + Loopy Pro + iPhone setup for a while. What I found was that the iPhone had to be tricked into believing there wasn’t a separate audio source for input vs output, which was doable through a USB-C dongle.

I grabbed this hub (which I also use for work – my primary use case was making music while on work trips, so I needed something that pulled double-duty), but anything with 2 non-charging USB-C ports should do the trick; then I used a USB-C-to-3.5mm converter for the headphones (which I sometimes sent through a headphone splitter if I was having a hard time with the headphones as a competing input source) and plugged the OP-1 and the headphone converter into the dongle. I also found that the order in which I plugged things in mattered; the most consistent success was:

  1. Plug both headphones and OP-1 into the dongle
  2. Turn on the OP-1
  3. Plug the dongle into the iPhone
  4. Launch Loopy
  5. Make sure the monitor was turned on in Loopy so you can verify the audio in is monitored through the headphones
  6. Unplug & replug the headphones if sound is not coming through them
    1. iOS 26 also introduced some new audio selection options that could help; in briefly messing with it, setting audio output to the headphones does seem to work in the way unplugging and replugging does. This might also remove the need for the USB-C to 3.5mm converter.

I also tried an iRig setup, but I couldn’t get the monitoring to work well through it.

Feel free to DM if you want to troubleshoot it live; I used this setup for about a year with pretty good results, despite the jankiness.

Also, shameless plug, but if you like making music with Loopy, I’ve been working on infinite audio, which is a web app (soon to also be a mobile app) that makes it easy to share music constructed with loops (via exporting from something like Loopy or direct recording into the app) and have it auto-mix for hours for listeners – free for artists plus a rev share if / when I get some paying listeners.
