Here’s my first OP-1 track: https://soundcloud.com/laughinganimal/waking

Hey there.
I made those tracks this week, after receiving my OP-1 last week.
The first and last are made only with OP-1, the 2,3,4 sequenced and recorded in Abeton.
By the way, nice track LaughingAnimal !

@Tomavatars this is really good :smiley:

@Sammyjams keep on making this thread groove, that’s really nice how you manage to get your way in your samples, I’m fond of it.

@LyingDalai thanks man!

@LyingDalai thank you mate :slight_smile:

I wonder how people like @sammyjams or others make their tracks sound wide and well mastered. Do you process the sound after record it from the op1 ?

@Tomavatars all of mine are mixed down in album in the op1. I use panning, drive at 80:80, and I do a lot of resampling with fx especially delay and CWO. Favorite CWO setting to make things a little wider: 020(ish)15(ish)0

@sammyjams thanks for advices.

So when using panning, how’d’you do ? Resampling a part with pan then another time with opposed pan ?
I still not have the perfect behavior with tapes, I do a lot of mistakes that kills my work ^^
And I have to say that mixing with tapes, limited to 4 tracks, is kind of hard.

@Tomavatars I found a cool thing for panning is to record a second time on another track your line (being for instance a beat). By adding a little bit of fx you can get this panning effect very quickly.

Now it’s true that at first the 4-track limitation is hard.
The thing is you have to get rid of stuff that are not that interesting. Or overdub and hope you will not crash everything.
Before overdubbing, I suggest to record the soloed track on the album so that you can erase your poor overdubbing and get back to the original. A bit painful, but better than nothing :slight_smile:

@Sammyjams I am truly impressed, you’re such an OP-1 Grandmasta !!
:smiley:
Really, your tracks are very well balanced and mixed, I’m impressed to learn that you do it all old school on the tool, that’s amazing what you got with it. Hats off, mate.

Thanks @LyingDalai for the tips.

Does it exists a way to put back the album record on a track ? Is it a record back with the ear ? Long process !

Here is another track made yesterday night :

Yep indeed, long process.

Note that you can also chop your track in 90s long sequence and copy-paste it elsewhere, like at the end of the tape.
This is quicker.
I often use the dead space at the end of the tape for this.
With Stop+Right you get directly at the last part recorded, then you go back to your track by Hitting stop…
So somehow it is as if it was meant to be used that way ^^

Yet, I like to record a long sequence I’m really OK with, ā€œin case ofā€ :wink:
Or…
Well, if you have a computer, you can quickly backup every track.

bump!
