Yo peeps!
After getting my hands on the Op-1 I would like to know how to use it exactly. Schools off and I’ll be a teacher no more for sixteen whole days!
With this time off I am intent on learning the zoo-1 inside and out. Since finishing my EP I have had full on GAS! Although space is an issue in Japan the Op-1 isn’t one of my headaches.
The studio lab rat in me wants to busy free of its reigns. I plan on taking my beautiful Swedish blonde analogy - the Op-1 - out and about with me to prep landed places to see what inspired sounds I can produce.
I’ve seen many YouTube tuts and believe the best out there is http://youtu.be/zz5PZb8ChZ0
Buuuuut I could be wrong. I’m sure there are plenty and this COULD BE all I need but I am also fishing for your advice here.
So, what are the best Op-1 tuts online?
This eBook on Amazon (translated from Japanese) is a great place to start!

Does it explain in depth the synth engines and effects or is it just quite cursory, nothing that we wouldn’t already discover when having spent a good amount of time playing/experimenting?
There are some synth/effects parameters where I only get by through observing how it morphs the sounds, but I’d rather also understand what it’s doing on a fundamental level to affect the sound in that way. For example, rather than merely hearing that turning a parameter is making a sound warmer as I tweak it, I find it really instructive to know that it’s doing that because it’s filtering the higher frequencies, like a standard Low Pass Filter.
There’s also this book: https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/the-op-1-cookbook/id806259708?mt=11
I don’t have it, so if anyone does, I’d love to know if addresses my desired information above.
Just one person’s journey through the synths but this blog is good:

Oh my god, that looks awesome! Based on a quick skim of the Cluster engine post this is exactly what I’m in need of. I’ll be reading everything there, very attentively.
Thanks so much for sharing that.
Thanks a bunch for your input! I can’t wait to play around with it! Mmmmm I’m GASing all over again!
