OP-1 Update 2016

Have we mentioned tweakable tape tricks for stutterf*** effects and the like?

Do any of you guys think that TE is listening to feature requests or our wishful thinking in general? In my experience they do what they want and not what users want. They’re primariy innovators and not service providers, as I see it. So I hope they think it’s a good idea to save sequences on the OP and they’ll make it happen.

We hope @jooga1972
I would like to see a track merger option. I just began something yesterday for the actual battle, and I recorded 4 tracks…for 2 tracks in fact, cause of the hard panning ! And the problem is that I donno how to merge them without exporting tracks on my Daw :frowning:

I’d like the sample editor window of both synth and drum to provide simple vertical lines that indicate each beat of a bar to the selected BPM

We hope @jooga1972 :)

I hear ya @quarantequatre … I’m still too unfamiliar with Tape as such and I’m not really pushing myself towards working with it extensively. The main reason for this is that there’s no undo function and that you can’t erase the tracks individually, just all the 4 together. I was once very close to completing a full song that I recorded fully on the OP, then f*ckd up something with one of the overdubs and finally abadoned the whole thing. Lift and drop could have have probably helped but they are outta my leage. I guess I should allocate some time to learning these functions, but would prefer a non-destructive undo function which allows the deletion of overdubs, the erase of one or more selected tracks, etc. Like that, Tape would be ace for even the likes of me,

You can erase one track at a time with the lift key.

Hey @quarantequatre record one track to another via ear selected in Mic source.
A tip is mute destination track (or it will overdub itself to itself, increasing dBs).
Set source track to 80 in mixer and orange volume in Tape maxed full up.-This will provide a ā€œas isā€ volume transfer…So therefor to set mix proper between two tracks …
Set destination to 80 in mixer.
Set source track by ear in mixer page.
Now mute destination.
Max orange in tape and record to destination.
(oh yes,flatten eq/drive,unless wanted).

Totally agreed with the missing undo @jooga1972
Thank you @Spheric_El, I’m gonna try this asap :).

You can erase one track at a time with the lift key.

Hmm… as in ā€˜lift but don’t drop’ ? Just that I understand this correctly. And lift will affect every overdub on that track, is that right?

Thanks!

I’d really like more than 1 bar in the pattern sequencer

@Spheric_El I can’t merge them cause I’ve got panning on the mixer :(. I just wanna merge track1 left pan and track 2 right pan, but I’m not sure that OP-1 like this kind of merging…even If I use an external tool.

Just tried with Audacity, but each track on the OP-1 is mono and 31MB. When I merge in Stereo, this makes 121MB files for each tracks

I’m gonna post that in a new thread >> If you wanna help, have a solution or just be curious about that https://www.operator-1.com/index.php?p=/discussion/1723/how-to-merge-2-op-1-tracks-with-audacity-and-keep-the-size

Any news about this April update?

is it official?
Any news about this April update?

is it official?
April is confirmed. The year is uncertain though. : )

Kidding aside, chances are good they meant 2016 when they announced (well, sor of...) the update.

I thought they said July?

I thought they said July?

It was April in the first place. Then it was July. Let’s hope it’s 2016.

Looks like Musikmesse is Thursday 7 April to Sunday 10 April 2016

I’m betting they’ll release it then.

Hi,

This is my first post here, I just received my OP-1 tonight! I was wondering if I need to update the OS…

When I turn the OP-1 on it says ā€œR. 14510ā€ in the bottom of the display, but the latest OS on the TE website seems to be 14203?

Welcome to the OP-1 family!

Yes, you should update to the latest, 14203.

but R14510 is later that the latest…maybe the new ones are being shipped with a new release?

@Lech what synth list do you get when you hit Shift 1 (while in synth mode)

curiously googling ā€œop-1 14510ā€ comes back with the TE update page, so I looks like it was there once and picked up by the Googlebot?
