I am so glad i sold my OP-1…
It's worth waiting for guys. Once we get a final release date or the early green light I'll make a new video. The beta process is vital. When the Beta users do these, we report on unexpected side effects or crashes from the changes (rare) in an effort to polish what becomes the final version. While my lips are tightly sealed it is a pleasure to get an early view but also challenging as the final version may change, add or remove things in each version. This is really the root of the reason why nothing can be said. What I can say is that in every case the TE team hear you, they work to add what they can, and will only include anything if it can be done properly. It is rare to have a device keep getting better almost 4 years after release! I can safely say this release is an improvement to an already amazing musical tool. #fullsupportfromhereI’m about to buy Analog Rytm OR Analog Keys & have a hard time deciding… I know you aren’t allowed to say anything specific, but maybe you can just give me a little hint to help me with this choice
I hoped to integrate Keys with OP1 as a drum machine, but no quantization / decent sequencer means it’s not really going to work for me. That’s why I started to lean towards the Rytm. But If the update solved the problem of more advanced sequencing (e.g. editable sequences, not just recorded on tape) or quantization, I’d probably go for Elektron Keys… sooo… can you advice me anything without going too much into detail?
I am not a beta tester but I can go ahead and tell you it’s highly unlikely that there will ever be editable sequences on tape, however the OP-1 does possess a number of sequencers. They are distinct modules from the tape.

I know it’s highly unlikely they’ll do it on tape, but at least I’m hoping for a better, more advanced sequencing “module”.
All I hope for in the new OS is an AutoPilot mode that writes songs for me, and I just have to turn the knobs in really cool ways while performing in front of sold-out shows. The knobs won’t do anything, but I will look cool at least.

I gotcha. Well I read somewhere that the plan was 2 new synth engines and 2 new sequencers, so maybe you’ll get your wish.

2 new synth engines and 2 new sequencersand a new drum performer mode.
Is this solid intel?
Ooo that sounds really good. Are we thinking that it’ll be another month or two before full release?
pure speculation
I’m hoping for some chord progressions in a sequencer and maybe a way to extend notes on the finger sequencer. Other then that I think parameter locking seems likely since that was big on the OP-Z.

you can put chords into endless. and have intervals in finger. i guess tombola can also do chords.
and the grid one.
still - note length in finger seq is much needed. broken record - i know - but might as well: unquantized sequencer - is this hiding around said corner?
I’d love to somehow see a separate effects chain for line-in (pre-master) without the 12 second sampler limit. Native sync with pocket operators via left/right split would be cool too. Portable TE family fun time would be even better
As far as bug fixes go… the clicking has never bothered me too much, but I’d like my OP-1 to be less fussy about turning on. Sometimes he just refuses, and I know he’s not the only one.
I know it already does, but I wish this little device would bring even more love on this little planet.
the ability to save pattern data to a snapshot (either with a sound, or separately) would be really nice tbh
Unquantized sequencer: sketch. The drum instance even sends midi.

If sequencing is main concern in deciding between rytm and op-1 you should maybe look at octatrack too if you don’t already have one. My op-1 arrives today
but I have OT and from videos I’d say it’s much closer to op-1 than rytm for creative options + the midi sequencing is pretty deep. Obvs OT doesn’t have synth engine of any kind but single cycle wavs will get you pretty damn close and drum samples are easy to import/sample. And it does so much more besides… Saying all this, I’ve not used rytm so I’m not able to give you fully informed advice overall.
