I know this has been covered in other threads. But, no one seems to have any answers as far as a real fix for this behavior.
My OP-1 is dead maybe one out of every 5 times I try to boot it up. This is not cool.
The only way I have figured out to get it out of the bricked state is to reload the firmware. Then it will boot up again… until it doesn’t.
Have any of you guys talked to TE and gotten a real fix for this? Or are we just supposed to live with it?
When it enters the “brick state”, does it display any error messages? How old is the unit?
I can’t recall this being a known issue.
No error messages. Totally blank screen. But if you hold the com button it will give you those options. And the only thing to do is re load the firmware.
Same problem mentioned here.

Firmware is #225?
Yep. 225.
Your problem seems different, because you are able to boot into TE BOOT. What version does the TE-BOOT show ? Mine is 2.13.
Have you tried “Format drive” (no. 8 in TE-BOOT menu)? You’ll need to reupload the firmware afterwards.
I haven’t tried to format the drive. I’ll backup my tape and try that next.
I just emailed TE about this. We’ll see what they say.

They are somewhat slow to respond. But eventually they do. Just so you know.
They responded pretty quickly.
No suggestions on what it might be or how to fix it. They would like me to send it in for repair. I’m not sure what I’m going to do.
What about the drive format? Did you try it?
I did format the drive. So far so good. We’ll see if it helps in the long run.
