Op-1f battery drained while plugged in any insight?

My OP-1 Field won’t turn on. When I flip the power switch, the red LEDs at the top of the level meter flash, and the side LED flashes too, but the screen stays black. When plugged in with the power switched off, the side charging LED stays dark.

Before this happened, it had been running continuously for a few days, plugged into USB power the whole time, and seemed fine.

I’m wondering whether I inadvertently disabled USB charging and it gradually drained the battery despite being plugged in. Does the Field charge when switched off regardless of that setting? Is there any way to re-enable charging without being able to boot?

I’ve tried a USB wall charger that I’m pretty sure has worked previously, then my MacBook Air, with no apparent charging indication.

Has anyone encountered this particular flashing-red/no-screen situation? Any recovery steps worth trying before contacting TE? I’d prefer to avoid a factory reset and losing what’s on the tapes.

Thanks!

Hi, this seems like the same issue I had. Exact same symptoms. I kept mine in the box while awaiting a decksaver and I think switch got knocked into on position and drained it right down. As mine was new I just sent it back to the store for a replacement. I never charged mine fully so I assumed there was something wrong from the start.

This seems interesting. I would assume this couldn’t be possible? Is this not about avoiding charging to prevent audio interference. I believe it should still charge when off.

Sorry I can’t be much help but it maybe a known fault to TE and can be fixed. I could not get into bootloader and all the troubleshooting I believe was for the original.
