Did anybody have luck connecting HiChord to OP-XY via MIDI?
I tried a bunch of stuff, but nothing seems to work. When I connect my 1990s Yamaha synth, things work like a charm and I can control OP-XY. My goal is to have an easy input method for chords with OP-XY.
I tried:
HiChord out → TRS audio cable (3.5mm) → OP-XY MIDI-in
HiChord out → BOSS TRS MIDI cable (3.5mm) → OP-XY MIDI-in
HiChord out → TE slim MIDI cable → female MIDI cable → OP-XY MIDI-in
HiChord USB-C → TE USB-C cable → OP-XY USB-C
The only thing that resulted in a very brief success was the USB-C connection. HiChord gets very briefly recognized and listed as connected under com > devices, but immediately switches to disconnected. If I’m quick enough I can even play a chord or two through the OP-XY. The new MIDI monitor even shows note data arriving.
Using the other cables didn’t work at all. Nothing gets recognized.
Hi!
I have the same behavior with HiChord USB-C ↔ OP1-field USB-C. Didn’t try with TRS.
Isn’t HiChord drawing too much current from the OP1 so this one disconnects its USB port ?
I’ll give a try with the HiChord fully charged and see if there is any difference.
I found something for the USB connection. I’ve charged the HiChord. But still it disconnects instantly.
However, if I plug the HiChord when it’s powered off, and the OP1 powered on, the HiChord charging led stays on.
And only then I power on the HiChord, it stays connected and the connection works.
I noticed the HiChord sends the MIDI notes OFF rather late, like if the minimum note time is 500ms.
Figured out you can change the release time, and it affects also the delay of MIDI note OFF. On the HiChord, keep pressed the yellow button and rotate the volume knob.
