Yep—most definitely needs a drum synth! I was really confused/concerned before I bought the OP-XY about a month ago. I figured a firmware update with a drum synth must’ve happened within a year, and the manual was just not updated yet. Couldn’t find any talk of it on forums either.
Glad I snagged an OP-XY during the sale though. I’ve yet to pair it with my Cydrums; hopefully, they’ll become good friends!

Definitely! I love the drum synth on the OP-1 so the XY does feel lacking in this department.

Yes please ad a drumsynth. 
The tone and sound of the synths can be very full and rich-sounding. The drum sampler cuts nicely through, but it doesn’t really keep up as a full 909 drum synth. If the drum synth could be on par sonically with the other engines (like a full, fat kick drum snappy snares and sizziling highs), the XY would be a remarkable groovebox
