OP-XY: how to do a flam? e.g. nudge a single note instead of all notes on the step

If I want to record a snare/clap flam into a single track on the OP-XY such that both hits basically land on the 2nd beat, but the snare is slightly before the clap, is there any way to do this other than (1) just recording it live into a single track or (2) recording them into separate tracks and then nudging the snare step early on its own track?

I haven’t been able to figure out a way to select just the snare note when both are on the same track and then use the minus button to nudge it early without also nudging the clap early.

Maybe a better question is: when you nudge on the OP-XY with the plus/minus buttons, are you nudging the step, or are you nudging notes? If nudging the step, then it makes sense why you can’t create a flam like this.

I wonder if you could use maestro for this, it does pretty good flams.

You could intentionally record silence in front of one (or both) of the hits and use that to nudge notes around

I’ve always used nudge for flams. Interesting about Maestro. Gonna have to try that. I think that’s the one aspect I haven’t played with yet.

You can have it on the same track and make a flam, just put the snare on the note before and then nudge it forward (or the clap on the step after and nudge it back), but you need to make sure that you turn down quantise in the bar menu.
