Not sure if this is a hack…
After saving a drum sampler preset, you can drag additional samples into that ‘preset’ folder after the preset is made.
This means when you load that preset, and want to swap out a kick, for example, you can browse for a new kick sample directly within the preset folder, without needing to jump out of that folder and having to jump into another one.
It doesn’t solve the fact that the OP-XY file structure needs some serious work, but I’ve found it does speed up the workflow, especially with drum machine libraries. For example, Instead of having lots of different TR-808 kits, I can just load the TR-808 preset, almost like summoning a TR-808, then just tweak it within the one folder without hopping around.
