OP-XY Update 1.1.3 Now Available

New update for the OP-XY (1.1.3) is now available, here are the patch notes:

  • fix crash when deleting patterns with sound link

  • fix broken “time signature” scene length mode

  • fix issue with random track sometimes becoming muted

  • fix samples not loading after sample memory being full

  • hide charging option when not connected to power source

  • don’t toggle held notes, making it easier to play held chords

  • refined logic for how held hold/arp/maestro notes behave

  • update song screen scroll position when moving cursor

  • fix LFO visualizing with amount set to a negative value

  • fix mixer getting reset when saving a snapshot

  • include step components and
    p-locks when duplicating pages

  • don’t discard lifted step when clearing another step

  • rounding error could cause drums to play one cent off

  • fix using MIDI track as duck LFO source

I’m a new owner. Is it safe to update immediately?

Lately it has been, early days not so much. I updated just now and everything based on a quick test seems fine.

You should be fine. I’d always recommend backing up everything, on any device, before doing any updates. Hopefully this new update won’t add any bugs. Just make sure you’ve backed up and everything should be ok.

Hmm. I guess now is a good time to learn how to back up this device… It’s probably simple, but I’ll read up on it.

Ok, not so bad.
I did my first backup to MacOS, but needed the field kit app to grab the presets, projects and samples folders. I launched the field kit app several times before seeing that someone commented on the App Store that launching the field kit app does nothing but put an icon in the menu bar. Once I saw that, I could get to the op-xy disk.
I also got the firmware 1.1.3 installed and no issues so far.

At first look, the guide is awesome! Very professionally done I’m happy to say. And I know I probably didn’t need it, but since they mentioned Goodnotes, I went ahead and downloaded that too.

I was struggling with the manual. I downloaded the PDF for the manual, but for some reason on my iPad I couldn’t search in the PDF.

so, thanks again for pointing this out to me.

Turns out it wasn’t so safe to update, so expect an emergency fix because of: Crash when copying pattern with single note to fourth bar : r/OPXYusers

UPDATE: firmware 1.1.4 seems to fix the issue.
