I typically don’t touch the voice allocation in the config section (leave it all on auto). However, I notice that for some songs (oddly, it seems random) I get voice stealing at voice usage WELL BELOW what should be happening (maybe 8 voices at most? Even if we double it that’s 16 and well below 24). If I go in and change the voice allocations to 1 or 2 (depending on what it is), there’s no more voice stealing, and the voices assigned are super low.
What gives? Is this a bug (1.0.50)? Has anyone else had this happen?
You can only assign up to 8 voices per track via the voice configuration page. I can’t find it explicitly stated in the guide, but I don’t think tracks can use more than 8 voices at once, even when allocation is set to auto.
I had some odd voice stealing behavior prior to 1.0.50 when I would sync and sequence the XY with my Dirtywave M8 as the host.
It seemed like the XY was getting overloaded: I would see CPU warning icon pop up and the clock on the XY would drift. It seemed like there was some sort of MIDI Choke going on if I don’t explicitly send note offs from the M8. Changing the Voice Allocations to only what I needed (1 or 2) on the XY seemed to make this better. I haven’t given this a try since I updated to 1.0.50…
