Op-Z and pattern length issue

I know that you can extend the length of a pattern by applying a multiplier. This works well for entering long chord progression but there is an annoying missing or not well implemented feature: parameter automation only happens exactly on the steps. That means when you live record an automation (let’s say the filter), there is a jump between the value recorded on a step and the value recorded on the next step: the values in between are not recorded. This limits a lot the use of the pattern length multiplier.
Am I missing something?

Just make the pattern longer without the multiplier… why do you need the multiplier? You can do that without it.

Well, as far as I know a pattern is limited to 16 steps. So if I want a longer pattern the length multiplier is the only option available…
Pattern chaining could do the trick but then it limits the number of variations you can have.

By multiplier are you talking holding track+shift and then pressing the number keys?
