Hey all, OPUS 1 is out!
it’s a mod suite for the OG OP-1 on 246: two new synth engines (dimension + a guitar amp with a tuner), new effects (bitcrush, chorus, plate) + a second effect behind every slot, scales, chords, tape undo/redo, preset rename + overwrite save, 100 sampler presets, your own colours, themes and start-up picture, and a menu of its own (synth + drum + tape + mixer). all drawn in the op-1’s own style.
trying it is easy and so is leaving. OPUS starts on whatever’s on your op-1 (stock, op1r, …), a sound it can’t play just shows “incompatible preset” and stays untouched. going back, the cleaner (menu › system) gets your data ready for stock or op1r and keeps a copy of everything it changes, so install opus again and it’s all back. te-boot is never touched.
where this is going: OPUS 1 is a fixed pack for now, but that’s not the end goal. with OPUS 2 every mod becomes a file you drop on the op-1 or delete. no reflashing, no picking a whole new firmware. think of it less like another modpack and more like the mod manager, similar to forge/fabric for minecraft or vst/clap in a daw: mods as files you copy to the OP-1, with ids nobody has to hand out, dependencies, and your sounds kept even when a plugin is missing. every preset you save with OPUS already says which parts it needs.
disclaimer! OPUS is a hobby project. I build it in my free time, at my own pace, for my own OP-1 first.
the plan’s here:
try the starter pack for yourself:

i also made a mod id registry repo where everyone is welcome to contribute! it’s goal is to make sure future mods won’t clash with each other and stay compatible: https://github.com/LizardMan245/op1-mod-registry
big thanks to @TabascoEye and @wavi for opening all this up back in 2016, to @popcorp for bringing the scene back with op1r, and to everyone in the custom firmware thread. would love to hear what you think, bug reports are welcome (here or on github)!
