OPXY user showing finished tracks - Bass, UKG, Drum and Bass, House and Dubstep style music, solely using the device

Hey guys,

I’m new here. I don’t want to be that guy who just joins and starts posting tracks… but that’s probably what I’m going to do. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I got a bit fed up with Reddit. I was posting tracks and It feels like a lot of people aren’t really into the OP-XY on a nerdy level, and too many comments just end up negative.

I’ve had the device for about a year now. It probably took me six months before everything really clicked, but now I’m at the point where I’m regularly posting tracks to YouTube. It’s mainly as a personal record of my progress, but also for anyone who wants to listen or give feedback.

I usually include a short write-up explaining how and why I made the track, without going into every little detail.

The latest one is a dark, dubstep-style roller. Nothing cheesy. It’s built using the OP-XY’s synth engines (the sub is the wavetable engine), along with one-shots, samples, and drum kits. Some are stock sounds, others I’ve added myself.

One of the reasons I’m posting is because I want to show what the device is capable of. Honestly, I don’t come across many OP-XY tracks that sound like something you’d actually hear as a release. My goal is to make tracks I’d be happy to play out in a club, and I’m trying to EQ and mix them to a club-ready standard, which definitely isn’t the easiest thing to do on this device.

Looking forward to chatting with everyone and hearing what you’re making too.

BTW Here track write up is on the Link - I am not posting this for views. I genuinely love noodling and sound design and want to show others what the device can do. This track took about 24 hours from start to finish.

Hey people!

New one uploaded to YT.

This one was inspired by a recent set I heard from the Dekmantel Radar event. It was Mala’s set. I started riffing along on the keys over a few of the drum beats, then just went off on a little journey. I recently found a sample pack with loads of really nice soundclashes, and I’ve been enjoying making tunes that fit around the MC vocals. Having those little badman FX and vocal snippets really helps stitch beats like this together and gives them a bit more character.

I also recorded this one differently. I pushed the levels a lot harder on the OP-XY and gave it a lot more amp from the TX-6. I noticed the last few tracks sounded great on my own setup, but didn’t quite hit the same on other systems. There just wasn’t much room left to turn them up, so I decided to go the other way… you can always turn your speakers down.

This one’s heavy. Fat snares that really slap you in the face (thanks to a few I found in an OM Unit sound pack), loads of sub weight, and plenty of space around everything. I’m also really enjoying finding these moody sounds on the different OP-XY synth engines. The keys in this one ended up becoming one of my favourite parts of the track.

This one definitely won’t be for everyone, but it’s the sound I’m really enjoying making right now. Head-nodding, weighty tunes with all my favourite UK influences underneath. Hope you enjoy it. Feedback is always welcome… especially how it sounds on your home setup!](https://youtu.be/LruYRyx3II4?si=7y3eKiOrVr1H9lCZ)
