FWIW, still crashing when loading samples here.

I am speechless. Do you think it could be a faulty unit? Corrupted memory or something? I don’t blame you for returning it, but I also want to hear your xy tunes!

I honestly have idea what’s going on.

MTP is still not working properly - I’m getting hangups and crashes when trying to delete samples and presets.

Happens when deleting!

I’d recommend sending pictures like this and your crash logs to TE so they can troubleshoot. You’re definitely not alone, the more people can give them info hopefully the sooner they can get it fixed.

Sadly it seems that crowdsourcing the alpha and beta testing is cheaper than doing it in-house :frowning:
I am definitely going to wait until the end of 2025 before reconsidering one !

I considered that before buying. However, if tariffs are going to be increased/applied, it is likely that the cost of most everything imported will go up. Since TE has a history of attending to early problems with fairly frequent firmware releases and considering that their firmware update process is pretty much pianless, I saw no reason to wait. I have experienced only one crash on startup and none since updating to current firmware 1.0.21. The one risk I see is if there is a hardware respin necessary to resolve some issues. But then, TE would need to provide current users with some sort of path to that.

thanks for reporting.
i am trying to recreate the crash.
any specific folder, filenames or steps that could help doing this would be valuable.
windows, mac or linux?

I’m not at all expecting the price to go up with tariffs - it shouldnt cost any more to import it. I’m not expecting anything else to increase either.

It doesn’t matter either way for me in the long term. I was planning to buy one anyway, so I figure IF prices go up due to tariffs, then better to buy now. I have no intention of arguing the economics as to why I feel if the price to import goes up, then so would the price to consumer. Prefer to discuss the synths themselves. I am enjoying my OP-XY, so I am getting what I paid for.

Sounds good ! (For clarity I live in the UK and we have no tariff plans - not sure where you live but if you live in a country that is not planning tariffs it shouldnt affect you either).

OK, now it makes sense. I live in the US and our new president has vowed to impose higher tariffs on imported goods. Thanks for the clarification. I used to go to the UK on business back in the 1990s, but have not been there since. I would really enjoy another trip over there sometime.

Come over !!! I used to spend a bit of time in the US - especially Boulder Uni. My dad lived in San Diego for a year or so as well and I visited him there…

Thanks. San Diego is a fun place to visit for sure. I worked on a contract with the British Air Force back in the 1990s as an engineer on the project. I am retired, and my wife is unable to travel at this point, so it is unlikely that I will be going anywhere for the foreseeable future, but I truly appreciate the thought.

It’s just a folder of samples (~20) that I uploaded - the uploading worked (although I had problems with another folder). Tried to delete the folder but kept getting a message in windows saying the device was no longer responding, then I managed to delete one sample from the folder - trying to delete a second sample led to the crash. It almost always gives a device not responding message when trying to delete. I just want to be able to delete samples (and presets) that I don’t want because I’m having to scroll through loads of unwanted/unused samples on the device at the moment. Is it not possible to have a disk mode as on the OP1f, which works fine?

Op-1F uses MTP too, but the Z and first Op-1 use the disk mode. I too would love to see that come back, so much more flexible.

You can put the op1f in disk mode by pressing shift when on the com page before pressing the T4 button - you will see MTP changes to disk.
