That’s awesome wingo!
I’ve only used Patterning with its internal sounds but now looking forward to sending MIDI to my OP and Nords:)
How are you liking the sub phatty?
The Sub Phatty is amazing. Like, one of the best instruments I have ever owned. The sound is just unbelievable. A friend of mine just got a Sub 37, and I am super jealous. It is like a Sub Phatty on steroids.
That’s great to hear wingo such a classy sound! I just picked up a Minitaur a few days ago, my first Moog. The Sub 37 is definitely on my wishlist for 2016 …Modulationpalooza:)
Really great app, we wrote about it here http://audionewsroom.net/2015/08/patterning-for-ipad-review-circular-inspiration.htmlLots of quality kits too, so I'm not sure... do you think it's worth the hassle in this case to use the app just as a controller for the OP-1 sounds? I assume you wanna do this to further tweak things on the OP-1 as you go, right?
Thing is, Patterning’s export functionality is sorely lacking, so to use it to control OP-1 sounds, via MIDI, goes a lot further in terms of synchronization.
+1 Wingo! On a whim I picked up this app in hopes of sending midi to the op-1 or my Nord Drum 2 but didn't get that far because the Patterning sampling/delay/eq/efx section was too much fun! Also picked up Chordian for
@skintechnician Could you (or any of you guys) make Patterning control external gear, like the Nord Drum 2? I'd so much love to use the complex pattern-crafting features of Patterning with the awesome sounds produced by my Nord Drum 2 but I can't seem to make it work. Is this a bug maybe or is it me getting something wrong?

False alarm! With a few tweaks in MIDI settings in both Patterning and the Nord Drum 2 I could hook up these guys together and they work like a charm. Here's how it looks: iPad Mini 2 to iConnectMIDI to Nord Drum, Patterning tracks 1-6 set to MIDI channels 1-6 and each of them is routed to the corresponding MIDI port on the iConnectMIDI, MIDI channels on Nord Drum tracks 1-6 set to ch.1-6, MIDI settings in Patterning are properly stored and retrieved after saving, closing and reopening the song. It's all clean and frickin amazing. Sounds like only clock, note and velocity values are sent to the Nord but the whole thing is so much more complex than what you can possibly achieve with Nord's own Nord Beat app (suffering from serious tempo shift bugs, btw..) that I am totally blown away. And it just starts to sound even more amazing when the Nord and Patterning play seamlessly in sync. Man, it's so huge and rhytmically rich. I will record a demo asap and will post it here.
Hi jooga! I haven’t tried hooking up Nord Drum 2 to Patterning yet but plan to do so soon. Glad you got it working! I’m not holding my breath for the Nord Beat revision although it’s hard to complain since it’s a free app. I recently picked up the oplab and a Moog Minitaur so I’m currently having some fun sending sequences from the OP-1 to the Moog via oplab. Please do post some ND2 Patterning demos!
Cheers!

With regard to a possible Nord Beat update, I emailed the dev (Jonathan Liljedahl of Kymatica) and he replied quite positive news saying that Clavia Nord formally registered the bpm shift bug (the biggest problem with Nors Beat, imo) and will consider and update. Officially Nord Beaf is Clavia's app so they will have to ask Jonathan to work on the update before he can do anything. I'd love to see this update happen but right now I don't see any reason to go back to Nord Beat. Patterning is so awesome and takes beatsculpting to totally new levels, that I can't wait to start building sequences and drive the Nord Drum like hell. :) I'll record a demo tomorrow.
This is what I put together earlier today. Details in the track description.

Well done Sir! :)
Forgot I had this on my iPad.
Adding AUM and AudioShare to the party with Patterning has made it even better. What a great mobile solution.
