Please increase from 4 to 8 bars per pattern in the OP-XY

I am a piano/synth player and there are so many times when I want to build an 8 bar pattern with the proper resolution for quantization so I can record/showcase my playing/solo skills and not have everything sound quite so repetitive. So many synths/sequencers always feel like they are limited in this respect. I have a Roland JD-Xi and that thing is a beast… it’s one fatal flaw… they half assed the sequencer. I really love my first couple of weeks with this machine but would truly be in love if I could have 8 bars. Please TE! Anyone else need/want this?

It would be nice to have. Even though I do need quantise quite a lot due to lack of piano/keyboard skills.

The 120 note limit per pattern might be the reason they’ve not implemented this.

It is possible to record/quantize 8 or more bars using track scaling. Do you think it covers your needs? Anyway quantization/live recording using track scaling 3 or 6 with time signature of 3/4 or 6/8 is buggy.

Frankenleg- I heard what you’re saying, but it doesn’t quite make sense for your use case. To show off your playing skills you’ll want to turn off quantize. So by using the track scaling you can get to 8 bars, 16 bars or more.

Ya, I get that, but there are fast so many times I do chord progressions that are 8 bars long. For example c,g,f,f_c,g,a,f. I just typically think of a verse as a pattern. I get that I can do two patterns with the same result, but now I’m doing two scenes for one verse just seems unnecessarily complicated with as much memory as this machine has.

I think track scaling should do what you’re looking for. Have you tried it this way? Settings:
bars = 4
Track scale = 2
quant = 0

Ya, I have been doing that, an increased bar length just seems like it would be beneficial to my workflow. It feels like I am forcing my workflow to fit the way the unit is designed. I think it would be a great user experience if it could adapt to a users workflow. 8 bars, 16 patterns, 99 scenes (or less) would be more than enough for most users. I would much rather have more bars than 99 scenes. Maybe it is just the way I am used to working, but in my opinion most full songs are written that way. An intro, several verses, a couple of bridges a chorus or 2 and a solo. Almost all of them tend to fit in a pattern of 8 to 16 bars or so. I think that is why some stand alone sequencers like the Deluge/Hapax/Oxy One and others don’t have such a limitation. It’s just note data, it’s not like your are recording all of that as audio.

Cool man, I hear that. Just to be real… what a damn time to be alive. Let’s take a moment and count our blessings to have such a fascinating songwriting machine :pray:
