Hi there,
I’m thinking of buying an Arturia Microbrute soon. My intention is to integrate it with a tiny slice of euro-rack; chiefly a second envelope, osc and a moog style filter.
I’d like to know the exact dimensions of the Microbrute, as it’s my ambition to squeeze all the euro modules into a cute little container that’s as close to the width of the brute as possible.
I have Googled it already (not being lazy) but Google returned 4 completely different x,y,z dimensions which, wasn’t very helpful.
If anyone owns one and is happy to measure it for me (width is the most important factor) then I’d be hugely grateful!
32 cm x 21 cm x 4 cm ish
Thanks
hmm I think that’s 62hp in euro format, I’ll probably have to make my own custom case…
… Or use two of these
Just saw a video with the microbrute and a strymon big sky. I think I need a big sky =)
it never ends, indeed… just saw this demo of the Mobius’ Destroyer mode. goddamn it.
Well, thought about it. Gonna sell some pedals to fund the big sky,
Big sky or Eventide Space is also on my wishlist.
@Ceefax does that come in a kit or preasembled? I’d love to start off with something small like that for my first modular piece.

Pretty sure they’re fully assembled and come with the power rail. You can get them in raw ply, or pay a little more for a painted one, or one coated in that textured stuff that I always forget the name of.
@Ceefax I’m assuming without the modules though right? I’m hunting for a complete kit, either diy or assembled that’s small enough to fit on my computer desk, with little real estate. Thinking diy would be cheaper and in my budget.
Does doepfer make the case as well?
Synthrotek does a lot of kits @Kites. They have 4hp delay, distortion, drum synths (8hp), and noise synth modules (4hp iirc), and supposedly after NAMM a whole voice (VCOs, EGs, LFOs, mixers, mults, etc).
@Kites Oh I see, perhaps Doepfer do a mini A100 that sits in one of those boxes - not sure. But surely the beauty of modular is that you can pick and choose the modules. For my Microbrute expander, I’m going to add a second envelope generator, a passive mult and a mini-to-1/4" adapter, so I can easily run the signal through a Moog MF101. Eventually I’ll add a comb filter as well - god how I love those; yet they seem so undervalued.
If I was a techie, I’d build an entire Karplus-Strong synth around the comb filter concept. I also dream that one day TE will make a standalone unit based on a beefed up version of their string engine. Imagine a higher resolution model, with more strings and parameters. Combine that with the ability to change the characteristics of the resonant chamber and add a threshold controlled bias regarding clusters of ‘drone strings’; ugh that would be heavenly. Even better if it had a pressure sensitive screen, that shows both the ~vibrating strings~ and also allows you to -mute- them with your fingers!
Very interesting stuff. I’ve only scratched the surface I feel like. Only recently gotten into synths so I have lots to learn. But “expanding” the microbrute seems like good way to get into some diy projects

Thanks I’ll look it up! What ever happened to you modular endeavor btw?
Here’s my little MiniBrute “expander,” from an Etsy shop. I’m not exactly sure what it does to the brute, but some wild noisy sounds can be had.
Here it is.
@kites Cool! Love those stackable cables too. Alas, I don’t even have a brute yet - I’m waiting for one to come up cheap on ebay - but no harm in planning ahead
I’m quite tempted to pop on a white Microbrute with the greater CV options.
