I am a bit behind with Raspberry Pi stuff, got one a few weeks back to use as media hub for the kids but tonight I needed a USB host so dived into the Linux Terminal and set this up. Really easy - using the link below:
i was inspired by the post to buy a raspberry pi to use as a usb/midi host and connect my OP-1 to my Roland MV8000. but it lloks like the reaspberry pi needs a usb keyboard and a monitor that takes HDMI in. my Mac computer only has a bluetooth keyboard and only outputs HDMI, no input…damn.

@awesome_o : put an SSH-enabled OS image on a Model B. or prepare one for a Model A on another B. good luck!
thanks for that! that'll make it headless and then i'll be ready to go. i still might grab an hdmi monitor and keyboard -- people dump flatscreen tvs and monitors on the streets around here.
