Apologies if this has been addressed, but is it possible to send the OP1’s audio out to external FX, and then record the processed signal back onto tape? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! ![]()
Yep, it’s quite simple. Use line out port to send op1 signal, then use line in port to get processed signal. Then select line in input by pressing shift + mic button and hit mic button itself to start listening.
would this create a bad feedback loop?
Typo! Obviously I meant line input, nothing to do with internal mic here ![]()
i was thinking that it would create a feedback loop even with the line input because the audio of the line input is monitored when recording isn’t it? i dont think the op1 has any way of muting while recording live, unless ive been missing out ![]()
Thank you guys!!
Yes, the feedback loop issue was the main reason I wanted to ask. I racked my brain trying to think of ways of getting the audio back onto the tape without causing one. I thought about muting the track while recording or possibly using the vocoder to get it in on the sly. I will continue to experiment tonight. Thanks again for helping get started!
not trying to pile on but
i too think that the above would cause a feedback loop
atleast the way its currently described
either way u wouldn’t be able to hear what u are doing?
happy to be wrong tho ![]()
the method i’ve been using to record thru ext. fx back onto tape
is splitting the left and right out into separate outs
to create an fx send / return type thing
panning your tape tracks the appropriate way to your ext. fx
with atleast one track panned the other way for recording // monitoring
without any feedback loops
a more in depth explanation from awhile back
yep this will work. i actually did try this and it worked. nice!
No, please pile on! This is exactly what I was hoping to achieve—an FX send/return! What settings do you using to split the left/right into separate outs? Just panning, say, tracks 1&2 and recording the return onto track 3 or 4? Really appreciate this, guys!
Only real rule is L or R panning. Remember, regardless of track you are using they all have to pass through the same stereo bus to make it out that output jack.
The goal would be to not monitor whatever is currently going into the input- that’s where the feedback loop will occur.
So source playback hard panned R, output to effect, output of effect into OP, and recorded into hard L.
