Recording to the OP-1 - noisy, compressed sound

Hi all.

I’m trying to record from the headphone jack of my Mac to the tape on the OP-1. I’m struggling to get a decent level without it becoming a noise compressed mess. I don’t have an external sound card available. I do have a Bastl Dude I could try.

Are there any key things to make recording straight to tape sound more clean? Or should I buy that sound card?

check your input gain setting (shift + orange microphone button) and levels ,besides that nothing you can do really

That’s at zero. I can’t check how that impacts it until the morning. Cheers though.
