Retrig with velocity...?

Hi everyone,

I recently became an owner of the OP-XY and I’m very much enjoying it. But, there is one thing I can’t seem to pull off that I really miss from my Elektron Gear: retrigs with velocity fade.

The idea is to have a retrig (aka “Multiply”) occur where each iteration of the retrig (or “slice”) can either increase or decrease in velocity.

Example: I have a low velocity trig on step 4, I engage the “multiply” step component splitting the trig into 4 retrigs, and per each trig, the velocity increases. I.e.

slice 1 = 8

slice 2 = 16

slice 3 = 24

slice 4 = 32

Is this possible? For some reason I felt like I was able to achieve this at one time using the “Multiply” and “Force Velocity” step components together but either I was wrong or I forgot how to correctly set it up.

Cheers!

That is close to what I’m looking for (assuming you are referencing ~16mins, but not sure without any context) but is lacking the velocity fade element (the retrigs are performing at the same, albeit lower velocity in the video).

What’s shown in the video works great in a lot of instances but I’m wanting to make crescendo/decrescendo snare rolls.

After doing more research, I don’t think it’s possible

I haven’t found a way to fade velocity but it’s possible to fade the filter cutoff, although it’s not very precise: in the track settings you can set the pitchbend target to filter1, and then you can use the “bend” step component to affect the filter during the retrigs. Hope it helps!
