On the op1 field i run the latest firmware 1.7.3
I am connect via usb midi to the hermod sequencer on the midi host port.
Now if i move the loop to the next section
[shift]+ [>]
The op1 field does not play. Only backwards.
I have to go all the way to the song start.
The endless sequencer does not record from external midi.
The arpeggiator does’nt work properly with external midi. It looks it just plays 1 of the notes even if you play a 3 note triad.
If i remove the usb cable the issues are gone.
The Squarp hermod is the slave.
Hope this will get fixed as it makes midi usb sync unusable on a usb host port.
But also using a usbc to din midi cable and a volca modular i get regular craches…
hey this is a strange issue. ive done a bunch of crazy midi crap since 1.7.3 and have had a wonderful experience. better than prior to this update.
can you share with us all your midi settings on both devices? it sounds a bit like a midi feedback loop to me but i could be wrong. let us know.
Hey yeah sure.
On the op1
Midi ch1, clock, notes, other on both. Ssp origin tape.
If i only set out or in it doesn’t work.
It now sometimes works.
I set ssp origin to loop. When i select double stop it works.
It seems spp is song position pointer and its introduced in v1.7.0
It works very buggy with the Squarp hermod.
So spp origin with the squarp hermod doesn’t work. You can only record from the tape start.
Loop works but buggy. Some times the op1 does not play but clock, start is recieved and the hermod plays and sends out clock.
The behaviour is weird as you cannot record from anywhere you like when you sync with the op1 as master.

in my view the issue could very well be a midi feedback loop. my suggestion is if your op1 is the midi master, then set midi to OUT on each (or OFF if you dont need notes or clock etc). if you set this to both, it will cause a midi feedback loop unless you ensure your other device is NOT sending any midi data. it’s important to set this in both the per-device settings in SYS as well as the global midi settings.
for SSP, yes you can either now send adjusted SSP based on loop points or hard-coded to tape origin. pre-1.7 this was set to to tape origin, so if you set it to tape, this will be the same as pre 1.7. many devices dont support SSP so if you dont intend to use it with loops i would keep it set to tape.
lastly, did you make sure your tape setting is set to beat match, NOT midi-sync?

You where right it was a midi loop.
When i used a usbc to din cable it worked fine.
When i used usb midi to the host port on the hermod i could see clock was being send on the op1 midi monitor screen.
Then i found that instead of ‘usb host’ i need to use ‘host no clk’ on the hermod.
Now the op1 and the hermod work fone together.
Thanks a lot for your support
