I’ve got a new album up on Bandcamp as Eucci named “Burlington Route Everything West”. This album brought the OP-1 back to the regular lineup after getting shoved mostly aside on the last recordings by Machinedrum and Monomachine. Two of the tracks were done entirely on OP-1:
‘rfcauterd’ is a choppy fast IDM inspired track done during a manic weekend of junk food withdrawal. This is what really brought me back to loving the OP-1 as I rediscovered how to make some really crazy and unique tones, and then really use the Tape as a performance feature.
’betwnium’ is some choppy techno-ish stuff that ends the album. My memories of making this one are a little more vague. I think it started from watching some of the ‘new features in 2017 firmware’ videos and rolled from there and is just fun. Basic OP-1 stuff, probably, but fun.
Finally, ‘thecocleslash’ is multiple devices but the first five minutes is pretty much exclusively Machinedrum (sounding awesome here) and OP-1, using small tape loops in sync with the MD tempo. The second half of the track is pure Monomachine madness with Octatrack acting as performance-effects-processor.
