I have a load of stuff I run into the Keystep but if I want to record on the OP1 how do I sync them … there must be a simple way by now…

Neither devices are as USB midi hosts. You need a USB midi host converter so the OP1 knows to receive midi messages. This one comes to mind https://kentonuk.com/product/midi-usb-host-mk3/. Alternatively you can use a computer or iPad in between.
Even if you had a cable or adapter to connect the two together each device is expecting to be connected to a host. It’d be like connecting two computer mice together.
