Tape misalignment after 1.6.2 update

After posting some curious things in the OP-1 update thread, I found a somewhat more distressing bug. I hope anyone can assist me in replicating this on other devices.

I noticed most of my tapes were somewhat misaligned after the update. I almost always keep my BPM in whole numbers, but curiously now they’re all in decimals, slightly off from what they used to be. When setting the BPM back to an exact number, turning the device off, and then back on, again it’s 0.1 off. This results in the tape markers being misaligned, more so the further you get to the end of the tape.

Here’s a video of this happening. Excuse the harsh sound, it’s intentional but might not be to everyone’s preference.

What I did here:

  • First played the tape section exactly as recorded, using shift+3 to create loop points around the recording; no clicks whatsoever, perfect loop
  • Then played the tape again, but fixing the loop start and end on the tape markers, resulting in an audible click when looping around
  • Turned the device off and back on again. You can immediately notice the markers and tape being misaligned
  • Played the tape again from the loop points that were previously saved - same audible clicks
  • Fixing loop start and end on the markers so the misalignment is audible

So all my recordings now being misaligned is somewhat… discomforting.

Update: problem 100% gone after downgrading to 1.5.7.

oh shit that’s crazy. no this did not happen to my projects but i did report the bug that the BPM shows the trailing decimal even if its a whole integer (minor bug). but i and a few others have reported many of the bugs mentioned in the other thread.

please if you have time report this bug to te support. i think the op1f is getting attention now for the first time in a long time so the more we can submit now the higher chance things will get fixed soon!

report the bug here:

Yeah restarting the device the bpm can be shifted since 1.6.0. If you set the original bpm manually the tape is aligned again. It’s a bug.

Problem is it’s not perfectly aligned even if you manually set the BPM to the correct value. There are audible clicks that aren’t there on the previous firmware. Even a perfectly recorded loop suddenly has a click after just restarting the device.

Submitted!

Well, not the same as your bug but somehow related?

I never use the BPM markers and prefer more just freeform loops. I always keep my drums on track one so I never loose or gain time and I never record over that track.

doing so I noticed that at a certain point on my current track lifting and dropping track 1 (my untouched drums) created a little extra space between tape portions if I dropped one after the other.

easy to solve as I just shifted back to the absolute end of the previous track without dropping one piece after the other, and re dropped right at the end of the previous slice, but still really strange. Lots of bugs with this one. Still, I am really glad for the update, drum envelopes and drop crossfades have changed everything.
