Agreed. I think we live in a wonderful time for anybody who wants to make their own music. When I was growing up, the prevailing attitude was “some got it, some don’t” and if you are considered not talented, there is no point wasting your time trying. Now, anybody can buy any of a number of wonderful music making products at all price levels and just go for it. To me, music making is something ANYBODY can participate in, given the chance and ignoring the myths surrounding music and talent. I think that is great.
Personally, I would MUCH rather make music on an OP-XY or OP-1 Field than with a computer and a mouse. Though I was a software engineer in my education and career, I have never liked making music on a computer. I can write out a solo guitar arrangement of a tune by hand with staff paper FAR quicker than on a computer with a notation package. I feel the same way about a DAW vs dedicated hardware. But, that is just my personal taste. We are all different and have to find what works for us individually.
