Tx6 or TP7

Hello All,

Need some guidance, I own an OP1 field and an OP XY. What should be the next product to invest in. I am stuck between TX6 or TP7 for a dawless integration. I have a neumann mt48 which is a mixer and can be used without pc for basic mixing, but I think TX6 is a very different scenario. I know one would say that both are needed sooner or later, but right now my idea is to use op1 field and op xy and bring their sounds together. No live jamming or anything just to make pure music without computer which can be later saved on usb or something to listen to and make notes. need help. Thanks

I bought the TP-7 but honestly mostly just recorded the XY into the OP-1 Field tape without it. I sold my XY (will buy another after summer probably) but for me, the CM-15 was the best purchase in that line.

Hey!

I was in the same situation. I went with the tx-6 first, tp-7 some time after. I’m happy with that order since just adding the tx-6 allowed me to push both instruments further in terms of sound design, sample/loop creation, and ultimately, good pre-mixed, well-edited material. Routing sounds through the master section of one instrument or the other, going into something I could EQ/filter/compress (on the tx-6) on its way into the other instrument is super handy. I didn’t expect as much recording back and forth into each device but I was pleasantly surprised with the workflow and the results. The distortion on the tx-6 leaves something to be desired, but I find the rest very usable.

I do love having the tp-7 now too though, since I did find I was running out of tapes much quicker on the Op-1f. Simple enough to back up but it can be tedious digging through stuff when it’s just files on your computer. The tp-7 is a breeze to scan through material, record into the other instruments.

And now I’m finding even more interesting material by placing the tp-7 in the middle of the instruments, and again, recording back and forth, making samples, layering sounds etc. it’s very cool. But for me, I found the tx-6 to be a great little tool that brought much more to the process than I expected. Hope that helps!

op1f and opxy are a killer combo!! nice choices!

ive amassed all the field products over the years and id say if all you have is those 2 + a mic, you’d be better off not getting another device and just daisy chaining them and having your final audio in the op1f tape.

at least for me, having more devices often leads to more wires and more mess and more things to “do” before music. if on the other hand you do get another synth that is part of your main flow, then the tx6 is a better option for you imo bc you can simply use a usb thumb drive to save all your jams and audio and content directly on the tx6 in realtime (vitiating the need for a tp7).

if on the other hand you see yourself going heavy on sampling and recording samples out in the world regularly and want to incorporate that into your projects, then the tp7 is the better choice.

Hi. Yes my thoughts are the same and offcourse eventually tp7 would also be added. It’s just that I have neumann mt48 which has some standalone features so was wondering should try that first but offocurse it’s not the same things. So I guess tx6 its is

It’s just that I do have Tula mic so cm15 is going to be and expensive upgrade but would love to add that too someday

Have you thought about the Sidekick? I think the 2 OPs and the Sidekick could be a formidable combination.

Funny

I own the TX-6 mixer, but am considering selling it to replace it with the Neumann :hugs:

The TX is small and handy, but I never use the tuner, sampler, xtras, and I would like to have better converters, phantom power and better monitor control.

Grass is always greener…
