AFK, I am a little disappointed to find that you can’t trigger internal engine sounds and external midi devices at the same time from the same track. Essentially, if you trigger internal engine sounds, no midi is sent from the track. Ideally, I would like to be able to write songs with internal sounds on the go, and then fatten the tracks with external synths when at home or playing on stage–without duplicating the tracks and abandoning the internal sounds (which I find charming).
Some alternatives (in order of preference):
On each track SHIFT + 2 is not assigned yet. This could be a great place to manage midi doubling–i.e., the ability to route the track to a midi send, perhaps only allowing ‘channel’ + ‘bank’ + ‘program’ forgoing midi cc adjustments.
Alternatively, SHIFT + 1 (the engine selection), could have a secondary menu to scroll with the second third and forth encoder (drk grey, grey, and white lol) to choose the midi path.
Or Auxiliary 3 (midi) could be dedicated to routing, and not act as single sequenceable midi track.
I assume this is already on the roadmap for future updates, as I believe this option will make the OP-XY a weapon on stage!
Maybe I don’t understand what you’re requesting, but I think you can already do what you’re asking. In the project settings menu, there’s a page called MIDI that lets you route any track to an external midi channel, but keeps the internal trigs. Here’s the relevant section of the video manual I made: https://youtu.be/SC7oJ6AqJdI?si=FqBmwmb6OMaBpYzf&t=4800. I’m sure I tested this and it works in this manner, but I might be wrong.
It comes halfway to what I would like, where in addition to channel you are able to choose program and bank as well. Like how midi is implemented elsewhere on the device. This would help me avoid having to change banks in between songs. And also save me from having to set up banks per song.
Anyway great outcome to hear that’s there. Thanks again
I think you might be able to use the MIDI aux track to do that, and parameter lock to change the programme and bank at the beginning of the pattern. You might need a trig on the sequencer to parameter lock it though.
