US repair shop?

Is there a decent US repair shop for an OG OP-1 in 2025? I have an OP1 that is spitting out code upon startup. It’s had a new USB board, passes all tests, can get to TE. boot, but if you connect a USB cable to it I won’t connect to the computer (it will charge).

I’m not in the US, so I can’t help finding a repair shop.

But can you reset it or upgrade the firmware?
Or haven’t you got access to any function?

I can access TE boot, I can reset it it, I can format it up to a point… my problem gets to where it says “connect to computer”. I will connect the cable and it just does not register that a cable is connected. I’m unable to upload the firmware because it never sees that it’s connected.

I’ve tried multiple cables, including the original TE cable. And it’s a replacement connecter board.

The usb doughterboard ribbon cable is perhaps unplugged.
With some luck, it is on the external side:

Or, in the inside:

Thanks, although If that cable was disconnected wouldn’t it not charge or turn on? It charges fine.

sorry to hear about your issues. check the te support website. they have a link to a usa repair store they “endorse” or “approve of.”

Hmm, yes, you are probably right, hard to say. One bad contact can avoid data connection while charging current is correctly passing through the other good paths… But indeed, few chances for such a coincidence.
Driver issue, perhaps?..

not saying this is it or anything
but a couple times i was trying to get into disk mode
for whatever reason it took a really really long time to actually show up on my computer as a disk
like way longer than u would think (maybe 10-15 minutes or so?)
didn’t really look like it was doing anything
then all of a sudden it was there
not sure what happened but then it would connect as normal again
after it connected that one time

would be an easy thing to try
no harm no foul

Thanks for that suggestion, I will give it a shot.

Unfortunately that didn’t seem to do the trick. Gave it thirty minutes. :-/

I appreciate the suggestion though.

Hey! Good to see you here, I think it’s the flex board that Hopeeasy linked, that’s what I remember!

Yeah, I sent them a message and they never responded. Doesn’t give me the warm and fuzzies about their service.

darn that stinks. it might be way out of date. try calling perhaps if they have a phone number? bear in mind that this is a pretty old device that has been discontinued for quite some time.

you could try this guy out ive heard great things:

I tired him to and he hasn’t responded. Maybe I will just part it out :-/

damn! sorry to hear :frowning:
if you are brave you could try to fix it yourself perhaps?

Oh I know. I’ve fixed OP-1’s before. My issue is if it’s firmware based, I don’t know what I can really do at this point aside from sending it to Sweden.

ah ok i’m sorry i missed that it’s FW. if it’s FW then that’s tricky. FW has the ability to vitiate the underlying hardware (in theory) and that’s way over my head i’m afraid. my best guess is sending to te in sweden via support.
