I built MIDI Volume Control because I kept reaching for the mouse just to tweak volume while my perfectly good MIDI controller sat there unused.
Now any knob or fader can control your Mac’s volume — system and Apple Music separately — right from the menu bar. Plug in your controller, hit “MIDI Learn,” twist a knob — done. I tried it with the various controllers, including the OP-XY.
It’s tiny, local, and weirdly satisfying — no ads, no subscriptions, just works. There are bigger and better tools, but most of them are pricey and bloated. So this one works just for me and maybe for you, too. I have seen a steady trickle of purchases.
The app is available here: MIDI Volume Control - Control your Mac's volume with any MIDI controller
and I have a longer write-up here: MIDI Volume Control: When the Solution Doesn't Exist, Build It - NSCT
Any feedback is most welcome!
