VST's for OP-1 heads

Hey fam, this thread is to recommend PC/Mac VST/AU/RTAS/WHATEV plug ins for the OP-1 head. I’m just playing with demos but some that I really like are for Drum Synth Drumspillage, Synplant which has a really neat GUI, Vice Drum slicer/sampler and the only VSTs I own and don’t regret buying are Chipsounds by Plogue and Korgs Wavestation. I disappoints me how so many VST’s just look like hardware synths. Synplant is so great because its a concept, like the OP-1 synths, it has a different unique and creative was to interact with it. Any VSTs out there that are conceptually interesting?

Sugar Bytes Egoist is pretty dope…well… its bloody brilliant.

Added bonus is that it is also available for the iPad as an app for compact mobility freaks like me.

Maybe not the best vid, but it does quickly showcase the software

I love my ipad version

I don’t know if you can call it conceptually interesting, but i love Aalto. It is the closest i can get to owning a Buchla. I love the UI and the flexibility. Aalto, Synplant and Massive are the only VST’s i use.

I really hope Magnus will port Synplant to ios one day…

Kaivo, also from Mardona Labs (who make Aalto), is worth checking out if you’re looking for something completely different. You could feed it samples from the Op1. It’s totally weird in a great way and has the same great interface as Aalto. Really good for processing field recordings as well…

I can also highly recommend Permut8, by the same company that does Synplant. It mangles audio in super crazy ways that I cannot even fully comprehend. Super diverse - I use it constantly for all kinds of stuff.

Ah yes! I have Permut8 and it is golden!

@papertiger

Keivo is gorgeous but it takes a LOT of cpu. I decided to wait with that one till i have a better laptop. But it is as stunning as Aalto.

As an aside, I asked Sonic Charge if there was an upgrade path to their bundle for owners of other products (I own Synplant and Microtonic). They said no, but gave me a 25% off code to use for buying the other two

They do Bitspeak don’t they? Awesome and cheap.
I noticed Plogue have a singing speak’n’spell plus more ,but Bitspeak is very straight forward and a unique vocoder.

Sweet, I might try that, as I was wondering the same thing. I have Permut8 and want Microtonic and Synplant! Thanks for the tip.

Man just started messing around with mapping some midi controls to Permut8 and its pretty damn awesome. Anyone have any other good recommendations for Bit Crush/frequency shift or other crazy creative effects. Preferably on the cheap, I love Sound Toys, but they are too expensive.

I like Ohmforce plugins. Old but good ,modulation on most controls. Check out Predatohm for a multiband dist & comp/expander that completely rearranges the harmonics of a brake. Their whole range is good.

it’s hard to go wrong with Audio Damage @Virtual_Flannel for cheap and quality mangling of audio.

Kombinat Dva (multiband distortion w/ compressor), Dischord3 (pitch shifting delay w/ granular), Replicant (stutter delay w/ bit-reduction if you want it), and more. Axon is a wild sequencer w/ 7 FM voices.

@KrisM I know they actually look great, but no demos! Always wanted to try them! They are really cheap though, maybe my next impulse buy haha.

yeah that’s an issue for a lot of people, though they do give you a refund if you don’t like them (30 days iirc). Not quite as good, and seems silly now that most of their stuff is no longer copy-protected, but there it is.
