I want a new pair of headphones particularly to play with my op-1. Need help deciding on a pair $100-200
I used AKG K240’s. Relatively inexpensive and good workhorse cans that are nice and flat/neutral sounding.
I use Beyer Dynamic 880’s and 990’s. Super-comfortable and sound great!
Both look nice, I have some Shure headphones, but I don’t think they are very good. Was looking at Audio Technica…
I use Sennheiser HD25 for video monitoring, cutting out sound passively when I sleep, and even the OP1
Picked up a pair of Phonon SMB-02 in Japan and they are killer. Great separation, clarity, good bass and not OTT so fairly neutral for studio work. There are a few reviews out there which generally say their the best sub £1000 headphones (but it’s all subjective)…slightly above your budget tho but worth saving
Audio technica M50’s, Glorious headphones!
audio technica ATH m50x
Sennheiser HD-380 pro, pretty good for monitoring
Audio technica M50's, Glorious headphones!
audio technica ATH m50xpretty nice and precise; confortable.I still use my monitors to check some sub and snare level in the mix. But i generally listening too loud, could be better with low level training. But i think it’s the case for all headphones, and even more after long time session of music with ears fatigue.i love them btw, i would buy it again if i had to.Maybe the beyerdynamic are a little better to mix your sub, but i’m used to the audiotechnica and won’t change, as each time i change, i feel lost during 3 months.
Same. Love 'em.
Focal Spirit Pro’s. Really nice, I like them.

I guess Audio Technica takes the cake so far. I have a good pair of monitor headphones I use for mixing, and vocals, but I wanted something nice and portable for the OP-1. Been using the cheap white Sony’s, things are pretty classic actually, I’ve had a few pairs. The ATH M50x are highly reviewed.
Beyerdynamic DT150, had them around 7 years now and still going strong. They really sound amazing, I’ve ABed them with DT770, DT880, ATHM50, HD25 and the DT150 beats them all in depth, clarity and openness (vague as that is). They’re not super comfy for long sessions and obviously not portable, but I’d definitely consider them. Should be under $150.
I use Sampson SR950s. They’re not great but not awful.
Beyerdynamic dt770’s here. When I mix on these it translates well to othe speakers.
I use the dt770’s as well
I am using Oppo PM-3 headphones which are planar magnetic. They are nice and flat in frequency response with excellent passive noise isolation. Prior I was using B&O H6 headphones which are also nice and flat, but allowed more external noise to leak in.
But if you really need to stay no more than $200, check out the Grado SR125e. Really beautiful sounding and flat headphone. It just lacks a bit in bass, but has holographic imaging for the money.
