Why is the mother reverb being cut after punching in?

Both the spring and the mother reverb have a similar looking “mix” setting where you can dial in how much of the effect you’d like to add. But while the spring keeps resonating when you suddenly drop the mix to 0, on the mother reverb is cut off when you do the same.

The memo keys are very usable for punching in an effect on just a single snare hit, for instance. So you can do this with the spring, or even the delay, those keep resounding like you’d expect. But using the mother reverb, the moment you let go the reverb is gone instantly. So we have a superior sounding effect on the Field… that you can’t punch in.

Anyone aware of any workarounds?

Do you have the reverb gate turned up on the mother effect? I’d guess either way this is why it happens with mother, since spring isn’t meant to be gated at all.

No, gate is all the way down. I thought it might make a difference having the gate on the master FX all the way up initially, with the mix setting at the minimum, and then by hitting the memo button both increasing the mix and lowering the gate. But unfortunately no.

Perhaps an LFO is affecting the gate parameter ? (Try turning off LFO)

No active LFOs either. It feels like it’s by design, but it’s such a baffling decision. The controls on Spring, Grid, Delay and Mother are mostly the same, same onscreen location, same name except for Delay where it’s called “input”. Grid, Spring and Delay keep resounding, but Mother doesn’t. It might be an effect you’re looking for, but 99% of the time I’d like my reverb to keep reverberating after punching in.

Wow I also thought it was a gate issue and I was totally wrong.

I don’t have an answer but this is super helpful to know and these examples really illustrate the issue. I know “maybe contact TE” is a cop-out, but… maybe contact TE and include these examples?

I’m just making things up here, but I wonder if the Mix parameter is somehow also tied to the Gate parameter.
