working USB hubs?

Hey all. I’m trying to get a multiport USB hub working with my op-z and have failed so far. I tried a non-powered hub, this powered hub https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073HBBFLY and both failed to work. Midi monitor shows the op-z transmitting midi but it doesn’t reach the intended device. When i directly plug the op-z into the devices individually, it works as expected so it must be the hub.

TE recommends the kingston nucleum as the only supported hub, but it only has one port on it so it’s not super useful. If anyone can list a working hub they’re using, it would be much appreciated!

I also failed to mention that when i plug the hub directly not the OP-Z and then devices into the hub, it fails.

I will recommend using only powered USB hubs. They do not slow down your computer`s performance, when more USB devices, are attached to it, because they are getting power from an AC adapter, which is plugged directly into the electrical outlet and not from your personal computer’s internal power supply.

I suggest investing into more expensive solution like this one from Elektron:

yes, I know it is a bit costly, but will save you time and effort.

I’ve tried to use OP-z with Overhub to control Digitone, but it doesn’t work.

i tried the d-link dub-h7 (bought together with my bome box - special midi hub and offered by the man who made the hub)
Doesnt work :(…

but in general why wouldnt it work?

Please explain step by step what are you trying to accomplish?

Here are three hubs that work:

This one with an apple usb-c to usb adapter:

These straight into the OP-Z:

*** BEWARE of ground loop noise… If you power these hubs and plug in multiple instruments who need the usb power you may get some buzzing. ***

I really wish to have an answer for why any one device wouldn’t work… how can they be that different to other USB-C hubs?

i bought an expensive belkin USBc hub (model # F4U092), for computers, netbooks etc. It works with midi keyboards and uses your existing usbc charge cable for passthru power, it will power you midi keyboards AND charge your Opz. However it wont allow digital audio out thru usb for some reason.

Have anyone found a simple splitter that gives you a single usbA port for midi controlers and a usbC port for charging?

I believe this is what everyone is looking for to transmit midi over USB for the OPZ.

Retrokits RK005 As well as Rk006 allow USB midi splitting and syncing.

This hub works flawlessly with op-z and ipad pro:

When you say seamless, how seamless is it?

Usb midi goes everywhere it should?
USB Audio works?

Thanks!
