Battle 48: That's strange!

@Nozaihaus Thank you! There’s no SoundCloud rule, but I think it’s more convenient for listening.

BTW: is there some kind of multihoster playlist thing, that continuously plays a list of URL entries from different sources and of different format?

All OP-1! Everyone loves an office party!

Very cool stuff everyone!

Anyone who’s still working on an entry?

I’m planning to set the submission deadline to August 24th,12:00 GMT. Everyone okay with that?

I’m going to try and get something in very last minute. I have something from my recent album that would be a perfect candidate except for being done already prior to this being announced and I’m trying hard not to just replicate it as it was a lot of fun to do so… yeah, I’m going to try and get something in.

I used the iOS apps Xynthesizer & ScaleGen to sequence the string synth. Everything else was done inside OP-1. The percussion was sequenced with Tombola, and the FM bass was played live.

I’m really looking forward to listening all the other entries!

Wanted to try and do something for this one. Hopefully get some time tonight!

Alright. Noisy concrete-ish stuff from a long time experimental/electroacoustic/musique concreeeak kind of guy who should have done better but waited 'til last minute. The usual fun with stupid tape tricks. This is sideA and sideB album cuts put side by side and made to pan back across each other, along with a tiny bit of editing out of some stupid silences in the computer. but pretty much straight op-1.

This is gonna be one hell of a playlist!

Heh. I just realized my opconrêt/48 track sounds similar in spirit to some stuff I made back in 2005 using weird little Mac OS apps that you’d point to a folder full of samples and it would go into some semi-controlled chaos-ville. I had some drum loops and synth sounds I made for it and this stuff I did in the OP-1 is very similar in spirit but so very different in execution.

I love when the OP-1 reminds me of various old techniques I used to use. Most of the time this has been reminders of old tape-layering techniques I did in the 90’s, but this time it’s reminding me of old computer tricks from long-disappeared weird little tools.

Now if someone can just implement th0nk 0+2 into OP-1, I’d be set

What a great little box.

This is gonna be one hell of a playlist!

Indeed!

@Callofthevoid If you submit yours soon, I can still sneak it into the voting list

Thanks mate, was up for throwing something in but time vanished. Turned my Op1 on while my kids were having lunch today in hope of fluking a 30min miracle. The results definitly met the ‘strange’ criteria but in a ‘how can a piece of music suck this much?!’ kind of way

BTW the entries I heard already are great  Will listen to them all ASAP and vote.

I can totally relate to that…

BTW: an idea is evolving in my head
