Copying / biting video styles discussion

Pablo Picasso said, “good artists copy, great artists steal.” Steve Jobs admired this, as do many influential folk. Whether conscious of it or not, what we create, what comes out, is a regurgitation of what went in, filtered by our perspective. In essence, a combination of what we consume makes up what we create; the key is to pay homage to your heroes. Forgetting the source of your inspiration is probably the biggest form of copyright. It’s like if you visit a place with different culture and specific rituals, nobody minds if you join in and partake; as long as you are genuinely partaking. Though, if you are to be seen outside of that culture indulging in the etiquette, someone might ask where you get your habits; now if you forget to lead back to your source, the culture that absorbed you, then your appropriating, copywriting that style. If though, you were to be asked of your style and you can relay directly to the ancestors and culture that shared with you, the peace is held; sighting the source is of utmost respect and people learn about new culture and customs. As soon as you forget to stick to your roots you start to transform into the evil villain!
