Don’t reinstall stock or format yet. Nothing points to corruption, and a stock reinstall wouldn’t fix this anyway.
That message means your OP-1 has a second copy of Aether, Arc and Clouds somewhere, and the OP-1 loads the first one it finds. Plugin files you added yourself most likely live in the plugins folder, which survives a factory reset and a normal firmware install, and those win over the workshop’s copies. So the workshop installs its Aether, sees it switched off after the restart, and can’t verify the update.
Two things would help:
When you formatted, which one was it: boot menu 7 (factory reset), boot menu 8 (format drive), or formatting the disk from your computer in disk mode? Only 8 clears the plugins folder.
The full list from Your plugins: press Refresh, then send a screenshot of every row with its reason. The “9 not loaded” are a different group from these three, and the error box only shows the first three problems.
The coming and going (Dots vanishing with a stock sequencer in its place, Aether showing up once) is most likely the boot safety check. If a boot doesn’t reach the tape screen, the next boot skips all plugin files once, and the one after that loads them again. Restart twice before deciding a plugin is gone.
That message actually means the install worked: all 54 plugin files are on the OP-1. It’s a safety check. If the previous boot didn’t stay on the tape screen for about 10 seconds, the next boot skips all plugin files once, just in case one of them caused a crash. After a format, the first boot spends a long time rebuilding the disk, and that’s usually what trips it.
So please stop reformatting. Install once, let it sit on the tape screen for 15 seconds or so, switch off, switch on again. The plugins should load on that boot. If you still get “skipped: last boot failed” on every boot, or it freezes or restarts before the tape screen, tell me exactly what you see. That would be a real crash, and I’d want to chase it.
The flipped boot text is most likely the display-flip setting being wiped by the format. Shift+4 in the boot menu sets it back, as you found, and the plugins aren’t involved.
did the tape storage went to zero MB when you did the formating disk?
I format the disk because when I add the firmware 3.0.2, my tape was at 390MB even when deleting my tape. When I formated the disk it went to 242.5MB but nothing on the tape yer recorded.
AFIK tape always takes up space even without a recording. When you clean your op-1 and plug it in to an external device it should show the tape files regardless of something was recorded to it or not
Thanks. That’s what I’ve been aiming for. I’m very particular about design and I want to try get it right. Having it feel as if it’s something TE might have built/designed is my goal.
That’s why I built that design kit too, so others could easily follow some best practices and not have to worry about it as much as me .
Yes, you can set the strength of each tape style from 0 - 100%. It defaults to 80% and both the effect and the level can be changed on the fly, not just at tape creation like the Field.
Maiko’s still distributing the fully patched firmware binary too though, right; with TE’s copyrighted code? I know I, and many others, advised them on the best practices around firmware patching on reddit when it was initially released and that sharing TE’s code like that isn’t the best approach.
heyy, I have some ideas/ request for future updates
CLOCK input :
Would it be possible to add an option for 1/8 jack clock in ?
Ive always wanted to sync my op-1 with my modular system easily without having to pass through a usb host device and a module like Hermod. I know it already have the clock out option for the PO but is the reverse clock in option is something possibe?
That would be the cherry on top of this new era.
LATCH/HOLD :
Ive always wanted to have a latch/hold on the synth engine for live purpose.
Maybe we could add it into the envelope page?
For exemple, press the orange pot to latch notes?
FX : HAIL effect :
I was wondering if the numbers for the parameters could be a little bit bigger?
Also in pitch mode the ‘‘zero’’ is at 0.057 cent and im not able to get a perfect fifth or octaves because this parameters jump in weird increment. Would it be possible to add SHIFT + blue to fine tune the granular pitch?
CRUSH effect:
Would it be possible to start the effect with no BIT (16bit), SRR (44KHZ) and DRIVE (zero)?
LFO :
Would it be possible to assign the QUAD LFO to the MASTER BUS FX paramaters?
BUG:
I’m experiencing a small bug when changing FX (SHIFT+T3).
Its always comeback to FILTER even if I am on another FX slot.
For exemple, i’m on CRUSH and when I want to change it, it goes straight to FILTER.
Thanks again for all this work and firmwares its a dream come true!!
