Female Producers.

For older electronic stuff I'd also recommend Else Marie Pade and Eliane Radigue. Along with Delia Derbyshire & Daphne Oram, these are my four favourite electronic musicians and the reason I got into pressing things on synths.

…and for those that like this sort of thing, FindersKeepers have just released a new Suzanne Ciani record of live performances. There are a few clips and it sounds great: http://www.finderskeepersrecords.com/shop/suzanne-ciani-buchla-concerts-1975/

@wolflegjon thanks for the heads up on those

@Callofthevoid Hope you find something in there that you like  Its also worth looking into the life-story side of things as well. They are all pioneers and way way ahead of their time.

if going back then let's put Wendy Carlos on this list, also because gender should have nothing to do with this

Wendy is kind of the grandmother of electronic music. Switched on Bach is an intensely weird album that still sold like gangbusters.

Are there any other female members here, purely out of interest?

(I am a horrible producer, but am working on it.)

(Am I the only one struggling to embed html?)

I know there are a few @deerful but in my experience when this sort of thing comes up on message boards they don’t tend to post about it. At the end of the day it’s basically a non-issue, but often invites leg humping

@KrisM Fair.

(please don’t leg-hump anyone, folks, I feel like it would make it quite hard to play in time.)

This!

On-topic: this is my Soundcloud. I am very much a beginner producer. My pop playlist is mostly reverse-chronological (except the cover at the end) and I think there’s at least a somewhat noticeable improvement!

Currently working on an all-OP1-and PO-20 album, just because.

…and my most recent favourite lady producer is et aliae who makes extremely unashamedly pretty dance-pop music. Sorry for double-post, I like her too much to tack her on to my own Soundcloud plug.

I also can’t embed HTML any more so here’s a link instead.

@deerful There is certainly a sense of progression going on with these songs and you’ve done a great job with the Joanna Newsom track.

I really like your sound experiments as well, I could happily listen to twofourtwo and leaves/waves for a few hours straight

Lauren from CHVRCHES plays an OP-1 live - or certainly used to a lot.

Well you helped me finding out that pasting the link was good enough for the media to show up! So obvious that I missed it. Previous post updated.

Another lady here. Solo artist for a while but new to production. Just putting a toe in the water but already feeling like some of this stuff is going to be life changing for me.

I’ve been commissioned to do a soundtrack for something and so far I’ve used the OP1 for 90% of it.

Don’t suppose any girls checking this thread that have 60s kind of vocals? Nico/Trish Keenan kind of sound? Looking for someone to lay down vocals/collaborate on a couple of things… If interested PM me for more info. Thanks

Here’s DJ Rap. She’s been around forever (active since about 1987), mostly known for jungle/DnB, but has worked in a variety of styles. She DJs, produces, acts, and teaches music production classes. I interviewed her back in 2000 for a music site I ran at the time and she seemed like quite a cool person.

"Bad Girl" - 1998
"Good to be Alive" - c.1998

She was also featured in the video for (and is sorta the subject of) BT's song "Never Gonna Come Back Down". Her real name is Charissa Saverio, hence the line about "mean English girls named Charisse-ah!".

Here’s more modern stuff she’s released.
