Hey friends, new in town. PO is my first TE product. Excited to join the family! Just wanted to let you guys know I got my POs (all three) in the mail yesterday, 3 days after sending me a shipping confirmation. I’m in San Francisco, order 182XXX. Tracking the order it hopped from Sweden to Germany to Kentucky to California in that short of time, so at least things get speedy once they finally confirm that they are headed to you.
First impressions: like someone else may have mentioned these things are super tiny. Not that I didn’t expect that, but it really hits you once it is in your hand. Because of this I felt I had to handle it gently, but a day later I’m feeling more confident that I won’t just bend it. Plus, I’m always nervous about breaking small things (holding babies freaks me out). Some of the little triggers aren’t quite as sensitive as I would prefer, but they seem to become more responsive with play. I would definitely not take these things anywhere without a case. Business-wise, pretty excellent idea selling the portable products essentially naked with a case being 2/3 the price of the unit itself. However, I think they would be fine if they are just going to be sitting on your desk. Though, still be careful. I will only be purchasing the case for the PO12 as that unit seems to be the most fun and flexible, and the most likely of the three that I will take out and pretend I’m Trent Reznor on my lunch break.
The sounds are great. They seem limited - at first. Once you really get a hang of the work flow and especially when you get into playing with the FX, these get really fun really fast. The locked key/scale/whatever isn’t too much of a deal breaker for me, but that is just personal preference. I can still manage a great little acid bassline and the factory is gonna just be used mostly for little arpeggiations. Sounds excellent through headphones. There is a way to control volume for you headphones, and it definitely does not need to be very high. I have them set at about “5” or “6” and that is plenty, maybe even too high for some. For what you are paying for the three of these, there is a lot of fun to and spontaneous creativity to be had. If the OP1 (which I’m still pepping myself up to) work flow is anywhere near this fun, consider me sold. Just gotta save up. Hope some of this helps, intrigues, or eases some people!
Actually, the instant fun of switching of effects or styles in the Factory makes the workflow on POs rather original and instinctive.
Even if OP-1 is rather straightforward, it is not the same instant workflow imho

The product's success exceeded the expectation of TE. So it's backordered. Suck it up and wait it out.
Have you never had to wait for a backordered product before? It happens all the time; game consoles, iPhones, cars. When I ordered my Audi A5 I was put on a 9-month waiting list. Korg Volcas were nigh impossible to come by for a while...

Yeah, I remember the Volca trio taking forever to arrive. Plus Teenage Engineering’s staff size is tiny in comparison to Korg’s, I wouldn’t expect them to be able to handle this, but it’s definitely a learning experience for them.
I hope everyone gets their Tickle Me Elmo, Beanie Babies and Furbys soon. (It all is beginning to sound like Christmas season madness)
Have any of those that have canceled actually received refunds yet?
I cancelled on Monday 16th and still haven’t received a refund. I emailed TE on Friday just gone and they asked me to check back with them on Monday if it still hasn’t arrived.
