Haha, yup thatās totally why I havenāt grabbed one yet
Overall the deluge interface destroys opz tho, way less awkward and it can at least display numeric param values and sample file abbreviations And it seems to make up for those things to some extent with its functions/flexibility/powerā¦Obviously wonāt fit in my pocket, but I donāt really want it to if its an interface that Im also gonna use live/studio. Which I guess is my main concern for TE with opz. How many people have āpocket sized + non-touchscreenā as a Ā£600 priority? I hope its enough and they sell OK, itās cool that TE are taking risks, but Iām not sureā¦
My password didnāt work anymore after the forum update and apparently I used a weird e-mail adress because I canāt seem to reset it. So now Iām LushHigh and Iām not able to edit anythingā¦

Oh, haha, damn. No worries⦠Itās just that this has become the main OPz thread⦠Maybe an admin can change it. But obviously itās not really a big deal!

From rumours it looks like I could maybe buy an entire behringer eurorack for the same price and just sequence that from my iPad/phone
⦠why not do that then, instead of complaining about something youāre not forced to buyā¦? I really donāt understand this mindset. Think about the oppositeāsomeone going into a Matrixbrute thread and complaining that itās too big, for exampleāisnāt that ridiculous?
Tell ya what, people everywhere are jumping up and down about the price (here, wigglers, reddit), and I can almost unequivocally guarantee that this will sell out on day one, remain in super minimal number with each production run selling out within weeks of being announced, and be near impossible to get one without pre-ordering. The OP1 still has this exact same thing still, and it is what, 7 years old?
Personally, I think the price is justified when you compare it to what else is out there with a similar feature set - even without seeing the full feature set. TBH I think people just get weirded out by the size of TEās devices. People need to ignore the size and look at the features. And then, go back and realise how much they squeezed into a tiny, portable device that has a long-lasting battery.
Iāve gotta say, I had the exact same concern which stopped me for years from buying the OP1 (āhow can I justify $1000 for something so tiny???ā) and it has been more useful to me than pretty much any device other than my laptop.

OP-Z interests me. Itās new gear to consider from a company that made one of my favourite units.
Its relevant to me regardless of my purchasing it as it will be another product in the landscape which other future products will measure themselves against in price, practicality and form. Like it seems that this will maybe have a Webstore for buying fx upgrades? You really want that to become the norm on Ā£600 units? IAP is fine on a Ā£10 app. On a midprice piece of hardware, not so muchā¦
A matrixbrute being too big would be a decisive practical hindrance. You canāt make space that isnāt there. The op-z being tiny is different. I ācouldā get one. And I havenāt ruled it out. I have a lot of concerns about it though. Which I would be far less hung up on if it wasnāt Ā£600. Iām pretty sure TE would rather have people discuss doubts and for those doubts to potentially be eliminated or outweighed with pros, than for people to just bite their tongue and make firm decision not to buy?
You never have discussions in real life that involve you being critical of something that youāre interested in?
I know unbridled consumerism is the norm on most gear forums but I donāt really understand that mindset

It will definitely sell out quick. People buy stuff without even waiting on reviews on stability/bugs/limitationsā¦
The size issue looks a lot more real this time⦠Op1 is very playable. Opz looks like playing a casio vl. Which is more like a challenge/brief fun than an enjoyable instrument. With that reduction in size/physicality itās just hard not to compare it more to the ānon-instrumentā vibe of tapping an iPad. Which seems like the closest alternative to opz. Op1 feels like a far more unique tool/interface, definitely nicer to play than an iPad.
Iām still undecided. Like for sequencing drums itāll probably be amazing. Iām just super wary these days of buying in to anything that isnāt optimal for me. Thatās not saying it isnāt great for other people though. Everyone has different setups/genres/tolerances etc. Interested to read some unbiased reviews after release and form a more educated opinion than is possible atm.
Right off this very thread⦠Itās maybe speculation.
I hope its not cos when this device was first shown it definitely piqued my interest⦠And the initial price seemed about fair @ ā¬350/400⬠⦠But ā¬600! No way. Madness.
But ill wait till its released. I was at first sceptical about the OP-1, now its one of my only and most cherished instruments.
Can we just rightfully turn this thread into a nostalgic Retro gaming trip until we have some solid new info on the opz. I feel like itās a good use of our rights.
