New OP-Z Sound Engines and FX

Still waiting for it on the moon :slightly_frowning_face:

A new iOS app version is now available, it got processed quicker than we expected and has been available since yesterday. A new version for the Android app is also available (since Dec 22).

We are now only waiting on the OSX version which looks like it’ll take another day or two.

The current OSX version already has the bug fix, instead it has problems connecting to our plug database, which is what the next version will fix. This means that none of the latest versions of the app on iOS, Android and OSX has the bugs described in my previous post, so they are all safe to use now.

The Organ synth was designed for the chord track and I wanted to make one preset per algorithm there, to kinda show you my vision for each and one of them. The other tracks all got the standard amount of presets (4).

Here’s a little bit of trivia regarding the pitch bend, I initially had the idea of making the pitch bend control the LFO speed on the Organ synth, like how you control the rotor speed on a Leslie. I tried to do this only for presets that had a fair amount of LFO active, otherwise it wouldn’t be noticeable. In the end, it turned out to be a too unclear/obscure feature so I gave up the idea. Unfortunately, a little part of that logic got left in there and that’s why the pitchbend hasn’t been working on certain presets.

The Organ synth is now fixed so that pitchbend works always. We don’t have an update button yet for plugs that have a new version, we will add that. In the meantime, you will have to remove the Organ from your configuration, commit, and then add it back in.

thank you so much for the clear insights, I really appreciate your visions and the overall work and love you’ve developed into the Op-Z!

the Leslie thing sounds awesome but in order to work properly the pitchbend pad has to be a source for the LFO, right?

…and it would be so great to control the LFO depth with the pitch pad, especially with the positive/negative behavior, encoder 1 could then be used to offset the pitch pad.

that would be super expressive!

@tngjonas thanks for the opz. I love mine, and I’m stoked on all the updates

Question: would you be receptive to a voting thread here for new features / updates? There are some things I’d really love, like copying tracks in the same project ie. Copy melody to bass or hi hat to perc; another being microtiming +/- for whole track; another being bi-directional control of the master channel.

Maybe these features would only please me, and you’d be better off adding other features which are more in-demand, or just features that the dev team are excited for, but a voting thread would help show what’s most popular at least. Would love to hear your thoughts :purple_heart:

Ok, so if you can’t get the app to work on your android device, you can’t load the new engines and effects in your OP-Z?

If so I gotta say that it’s a really shitty system!

it’s worth to see the Iphone as optional display module and buying one just for the Z isn’t that much on the used market.

I thought I read you could load in content mode? I haven’t updated yet. I have a bunch of jams which I want to export first. Someone reported the new LFOs in the previous update changing some projects.

I’m under the impression that these new effects are not part of the FW, but rather downloaded from a TE server…

you can rearrange the plugs once they’ve been loaded to the Z but you can’t access the fx slots via pc/mac

indeed. Jonas told something about an ā€œupdateā€ button in the App, maybe on the next release to load updated plugs/fx etc. if they had to be changed or optimized by TE

Well, I’m not going to buy another device just to be able to load new content, that’s just stupid! I’m not calling you stupid Johnny, thanks for the advice. I’m calling TE stupid!

I don’t need the app, I manage the OP-Z just fine without it. But I would like new synths and stuff. Don’t get why you can’t do it from a computer.

I’ve tried to get the app to work om three different devices, two Samsung phones and one Nexus tablet with no luck.

yes. Iam personally a long time IOS user but thought a while back that it’s really not that difficult to get a used Iphone for cheap as display model only…and anything else that comes with IOS…Model 15 for instance. :ok_hand:

you’ll sort it :muscle:

Can’t you just put the sound plug files in the OP-Z manually in disk mode?

Someone could upload them so you could download.

I was wondering if this were possible. Perhaps those folders are not accessible in content mode.

at least not the fx tracks but we can try with the other engines

Could it help to share a complete backup folder, instead of single files?
Perhaps the fx engines are stored somewhere in there (once they have been added via app).
You still wouldn’t get the chance to rearrange them like that without the app, but at least you could find them in the fx slots.

Maybe this helps?

If you want to use new synth engines, just copy an .engine file into an empty slot and rename it to ā€œ~14.engineā€ or ā€œ~10.engineā€.

What? That seems a little bit too easy? Can somebody confirm that it works even if you previously haven’t installed the new synths?

And in that case the new engines are part of the FW, not downloaded… since which FW version?
